I am a little less frequent on the forum these days, but to my surprise I didnt see a thread on Corey Grant. Im not too familiar with him, but with what I did see on him for the Jaguars, I am very happy with this pick up. Low cost, great upside. As I can recall he is a shifty, explosive back, who can shake a tackle. Also, he can catch. He might also be able to contribute on special teams as a KR/PR.

I think we are keeping 4 backs on the roster this year. What are your thoughts?

It has been mentioned in several threads that the Packers signed Grant. With the Packers claiming another running back in Darrin Hall off waivers it's probable the front office isn't satisfied with the talent level at the position, meaning Grant will have a realistic chance at making the roster. While he hasn't received a lot of carries during his four year career he has produced when given the ball.

Hall might be an interesting player as well after ranking fourth in the nation in yards per attempt (7.48) in the FBS last season.

I love the dark horse competition. Reminds me of a one Samkon Gado. He played In Jerry Falwell Country at Liberty U and wasn’t even a starter, yet holds GBs rookie single game rushing record (171).

Just for the record, Ahman Green (218 yards vs. the Broncos in 2003) holds the record for most rushing yards in Packers history. Gado's 171 vs. the Lions in 2005 ranks seventh.

I can't see Grant not making the roster, given Bibbs and Bouganon(sp?) have been clinging on for a while.

Obviously Jones and both Williams make the roster but we need someone for depth purposes who can also play. Let's be honest when Jones went down J Williams was marginal to average in the lead role(in my opinion). D Williams might be a year away from being what we need him to be.

I'm not sure, but him and other street guys have found ways to hang on the roster without offering any real substance the last 2-3 years.

Samkon was great that year. He was a bright spot for sure. I think he stayed around the league a couple years and became a doctor upon leaving. Good for the guy.

I watched a special on him about a year ago. Wearing his lab coat and looking the part. Man that cat was a breath of fresh air!

He was a good story and what he is doing now may be more rewarding for him than a more illustrious NFL career may have been but I am happy that he wasn't just a guy who only played a few snaps here and there. Obviously his career never panned out but he did have some memorable games which is more than can be said for a lot of players. 3 TDs in a game. Team rookie rushing record. Several 100 yard games.

Probably a perfect career for him. Short, definitely memorable for him and fans. Nobody is forgetting samkon in GB and now he's a doctor saving lives

Grant is explosive in the return game. LeFluer and the front office have to be looking to improve special teams. I think Grant and Davis would be a duel threat.

Reports are high coming out of GB on Dexter Williams in camp. If Hall impresses as well, do you think Jamal Williams becomes the odd man out?

Absolutely, when D Williams was drafted I knew they were gunning for him. If Jones goes down we are in trouble in LeFleur's offense without someone as dynamic.

Bibbs only made the team after Aaron Jones was placed on injured reserve. Bouagnon never was part of the active roster.

In my opinion Grant will have to beat out either Jamaal or Dexter Williams for a roster spot. I fully expect MLF to keep Vitale on the 53, therefore only keeping three running backs on it.

The Packers should only keep two returner specialists if both of them make it on the roster based on their value on offense as well.

I agree that Jamaal Williams might be in danger of not making the 53.
