AR in 2017, "When it comes to setting the market values, I let that stuff take care of itself," Rodgers said in June. "I know my value in this league, and I know the team appreciates me. I'm going to continue to make myself an indispensable part of this roster. When you do that, when your time comes up to get a contract, you usually get a contract extension." Reading between the lines: PAY ME. Now I am speculating here but I believe if he gets some assurances from Gute that money is going to be spent on bringing in some key FA help then he may take a little haircut. AR is going to end up with more money than he could ever spend and I am sure he is investing wisely and making sure his long-term financials are in good standing. He wants rings and the best way to get those rings is with a shot of talent injected into the roster. Don't think for a second think AR isn't aware of his perceived ranking when the all-time great discussion comes up and how rings, or lack thereof, are a massive part of the discussion. All I know is it's going to be an interesting off-season and one unlike we've had in a long time. I like it as there seems to be a new energy and sense of anticipation in the air.
