Oh Lord! Did I read this right? Ridder Arena has a seating capacity of 3,400 and they have tickets for sale for $20? That's downright embarrassing. What is wrong with college programs that they don't give hockey more exposure, so they get more media coverage? This whole thing of not wanting to broadcast women's sports is total ignorance. Look at all the wasted time they had when Caitlin Clark was in college. When they did show her games on TV they drew more than any of the Big 10 men's programs did.

The good old boy society never dies.
Yup. Pathetic Really.

Honestly, if they held the NCAA Finals in Madison, they probably sell out the Kohl Center or at least sell 8-10K tickets in advance and if the Badgers are playing, a packed house. Sadly, for whatever reasons, it seems that the State of Minnesota has had the Lions share of hosting the NCAA Women's NCAA Tourney. Not once, has it been in Wisconsin.

Bucky beat Duluth today by a score of 3-1. The game was played on Duluth's Home ice before what looked like about 200 people. Pathetic! The Badgers outshot Duluth by about a two-one margin, but the Bull Dogs kept themselves in the game with suburb goaltending by Gascon. She and McNaughton are probably the 2 best goalies in the country. CW-TV actually picked up the game, so I got to watch it!

The Badgers will play the winner of the next game, OSU VS Minnesota, at 2pm tomorrow for the WCHA Final Face-Off Championship.

I didn't watch it. If I recall, CW is the one camera and one announcer source I was mentioning earlier. This whole thing is a fiasco. It's like they're trying to kill the sport.

One more hurdle. Win the National Championship. I'm going to have to check on who's carrying the Regionals. I have a hunch it's going to be ESPNU based on the selection show. But just a guess. I'm going to make a guess here, but I think the Championship will be between the Badgers and Ohio State. The Buckeyes nailed the Badgers for their only loss in Columbus, and pulled off a win in an OT shoot out in Madison. They are a tough competitor. They should get #2 or #3 ranking and end up in the opposite bracket until the finals.

2025 NC women's ice hockey championship schedule

  • Selection show |Sunday, March 9 at 11:30 a.m. ET
    • Watch live on ESPNU
  • Regional semifinals | March 13 or 14
  • Regional finals | March 15 or 16
  • Frozen Four
    • Semifinals | Friday, March 21
      • Watch live on ESPN+
    • National championship | Sunday, March 23 at 4 p.m. ET
      • Watch live on ESPN+

No surprise, Bucky gets the #1 Seed in the NCAA Tourney. They will get a first round bye and be home against the winner of BU VS Clarkson on Saturday at 2 PM. If they win that, they will take on the winner of Colgate VS Minnesota Gophers.

Not really that excited about having the Gophers on the Badger side of the Bracket, since the Final 4 is at their home ice. I guess it beats having Ohio State sitting there and it won't surprise me if the Badgers end up having to beat both the Gophers and the Buckeyes to win it all.

Now all that remains is finding out if there is any TV coverage of any of the games.

I figured that's the way the lineup could take shape. The only question was how Ohio State, Minnesota, and Colgate ended up slotted 2 through 4. It couldn't have worked out worse for the Badgers to be honest. Ending up playing what looks like Minnesota in the semi-finals on their home ice is not going to make it easy. We could be seeing an upset in the making, and if we do get past Minnesota, I see OSU going into the finals and they're not going to be as sorely tested. It could be a badly beat up and bruised team from the Minnesota game that the Badgers put on the ice.

One thing for certain. If the Badgers do win this one, they've really been tested and proved that they deserve this championship if not as much, then more, than any other champions have over the last 2 decades.

Agree.

The other part of the bracket set-up that I think sucks is that the #4 and #5 seeds (Minnesota and Colgate) not only get 1st round byes, they know who they play in the 2nd round (each other). Now I guess that is an advantage and a disadvantage, but as a coach, Johnson is going to have to scout both Clarkson and Boston U, not knowing who will come out a winner.

I scored tickets for the Saturday game! Looking forward to a packed LaBahn Arena.

I'm surprised they didn't move the tournament game to the big ice instead of LaBahn. I think they could have filled the place to be honest. A winner draws fans and they're a real winner.

Guessing the Kohl Center was booked already OR, because it is a 2nd round game, they may not have sold out. Badger Volleyball is sadly the same way. The Fieldhouse is packed, but they probably could pack the Kohl center and have, for HUGE games.

There is also something to be said about playing at LeBahn as compared to the Kohl for the Badgers. They are very used to the ice, the boards, the lighting, as well as the crowd noise (VERY LOUD), so even though it only seats 2400, it truly is, home ice.

Busy TV schedule for me this weekend. Badgers basketball, Badgers Women's Hockey, and Bucks games. If all goes well, 8 games between now and the end of the weekend.

Add to it, I want to catch a few of the White Sox preseason games as well. At least a couple, maybe three if televised. My wife is going to lock me away in our TV/computer/media room throw food at me and make sure I don't end up welded to my recliner.

There could be worse ways to spend the weekend! ;)

For me, the Badger Hockey is priority #1. Of course, I am attending the game, so no way around that. :D Also, the Badgers are now in the "Must win or the season is over" point of the year. Hockey is a funny game. A few bad bounces or a hot goalie and even a superior team can go home empty handed.

While I hope the Badger Basketball team wins the Big10 Tourney, no matter what they do, life goes on for them (NCAA Tourney). The more games they win in the next 4 days, the better seed they will get. I was excited about this team, but the last 3 or so games has made me think they aren't the Cinderella team I thought that they might be.

As far as the Bucks go, meh.....I started watching the Pacers game last night and despite what sounds like a fun ending, to a Bucks loss, I'm glad that I stopped watching after the 1st Q and watched something else.

Well this was interesting to see. Tickets are still available for tomorrow nights game at LaBahn between Clarkson and BU @ $8/ticket.

Meanwhile, Saturday's game between tomorrow nights winner and The Badgers is not only sold out, resale tickets are at a Premium.

I'm jealous. I wish I could go to the Final 4. It should be a lot of fun. With the small number of seats that they have, there won't be any crowd problems or traffic jams.

Enjoy it! I'll be watching on my TV back here in South Texas.

Hope you have a comfy seat for the back to back Badger games today. We're heading to Madison for an early lunch to catch the Basketball game in a bar and then walk over to the Hockey game.

Watching the Badgers totally dominate UCLA yesterday, re-woke my excitement for the team. I guess we will see if they can keep that hot shooting going today against Sparty.

I'm most excited about the Hockey game. Always a fun day to watch the Badger Hockey team, but the tournament games are always more exciting because of the stakes.

I noticed that the Frozen Four Tickets in Minneapolis are sold out and now in the hands of the secondary market and have jumped from $20 to over $200. No surprise, since both the Gophers and the Bulldogs are still playing. After this weekend, if those 2 get knocked out, those prices will plummet.

Go Bucky X 2 today!!!

A busy day for you in Madtown. Lots going on. There will be a lot of people out and about. It looks like it's going to be a great day for being there, weatherwise. Have fun!

Yes! I'll be glued to my 65" TV. Noon the Badgers get a crack at revenge with MSU. I've got my fingers crossed. If the Badgers get hot from the 3-point-arc they could light it up. The hockey game starts at 2 PM, so I'm going to have my IPad hanging loose so I can do double duty for a short period of time if both are on at the same time. Don't want to miss the action.

Two wins today and Bucky will turn Madtown into party city tonight. A double win would also be a nifty recruiting tool for all Badger sports because they're building on successes. Now all we need to do is find a women's BB coach who can start from scratch, recruiting, because all the talent on the team has headed for the portal. Then Let's hope Grimes can do something with the new Pro offense in football, and we can get a turnaround in our men's hockey team to make them as competitive as the ladies.

Lots of wants but winning is contagious.
