Oh dear lord….someone wake Nixon up and inform him that he ain’t Him.

He had me going for a minute there...

I saw "Keisean Nixon says he no longer wants to return kicks..." and I thought, "You and me both, brother!"

But then saw the rest: "...he sees himself as CB1 going forward" and immediately said "Noooooo thank you!!"

Like I'm sorry I love belief in oneself but that is just ludacris.

He was point blank asked about coming back and he had nothing but good things to say about Green Bay and said he’d be open to returning. I don’t think there is any ill will.
Honestly the more I think about it the more of an interesting option it seems to me.

Part of me thinks someone like Tee Higgins would be an ideal choice. He's still relatively young and looks primed to step into a #1 role.

On the other hand though, maybe I'm still a bit disillusioned but I still like the promise of a lot of our young guys and wouldn't want to totally throw in the towel just yet. Davante isn't the same guy he was in his prime, but he's still a dang good receiver.

For some context...in 11 games with the Jets, Davante had 854 yards and 7 TD.
This year, our rec yard leader was Jayden Reed, who in 17 games had..... 857 yards. Kraft had 7 rec TD, and Reed had 6.
Davante still averages ~6 rec per game; Doubs, Reed, and Kraft are all our leaders and they're roughly catching half that. (Doubs 3.5, Reed 3.2, Kraft 2.9)

Maybe some decline is to be expected as he continues to age, but at the moment we can say that at 32 years old, 2/3rds of a season of Davante is still *at worst* on par with our best passcatchers right now (and if you include his "full" season - 14 games total - he is comfortably ahead of any of our guys)

Given his age though it wouldn't be a super long term solution. Maybe that is a good thing? A few years with an elite veteran presence may well help out our young WRs AND serve as a nice safety blanket, outlet, etc for Love.

(I won't be mad if we're in on Higgins though either)

First coaching change for 2025 happening. Longtime QB coach Tom Clements will be retiring. That's a blow to both Love and Willis.

Clements has worked with Favre, Rodgers and Love. Pretty impressive resume for a 71 year old to retire with.

I despise this for Myers but that injury depending what it ends up being could be the difference of him leaving for a starting bankroll elsewhere and him doing a one year deal here for say that $5M or so level...would essentially allow GB to not commit anything longterm AND keep same starting OL if we wanted to. I still think they planned on never resigning him and Jenkins becoming center while Morgan LG...but time will tell.
Tests didn't show any type of damage.

According to ESPN's insider Jeremy Fowler, Josh Myers has swelling, but otherwise is good.

I think he tests the FA market and gets overpaid. I wouldn't mind him back, but not for anything over $6-8M/year.

What else would you expect Davante to say?

If I was a betting man, I would put the odds of him returning to GB at about 28-1.

Who is in and who is out so far for 2025?

In: The Green Bay Packers have signed DL Deslin Alexandre, S Omar Brown, DL James Ester, CB Kamal Hadden, K Alex Hale, G Marquis Hayes, WR Julian Hicks, G/T Donovan Jennings, WR Cornelius Johnson, CB Kalen King, DL Jeremiah Martin and TE Messiah Swinson to reserve/future contracts

Out: Green Bay did not re-sign wide receiver Alex McGough, running backs Ellis Merriweather and Deshaun Fenwick, offensive guard Michael Jordan, and linebacker Michael Barrett.

While I don't think Davante Adams will be back in Green and Gold next season, a guy I think could be is Aaron Jones. AJ was on a 1 year $7M deal with the Vikings. Will the Vikings want him back? Can they afford him back? Will Jones try to ride the successes of himself, Barkley, Jacobs and Henry in 2024 Free Agency and look for 1 more big contract?

He just turned 30 in Dec., I honestly don't think he is going to find a big contract, maybe one like he signed with the Vikings. Having him and Jacobs as our 1-2 punch next season would be intriguing and honestly, one I thought we would have this season after Jacobs was signed. AJ loves Green Bay and Green Bay loves AJ.

Well. If he is a starter you cannot risk using him on kicks unless you are Deion Sanders.

Vikings can let Darnold walk and still can build around McCarthy. They are not in bad cap shape. And they do not appear to be as much a running team as the Packers. They have options and a ton of playmakers on both sides of the ball. I think the Packers 27-25 game drained them. 3 emotional contests in a row. They needed one vs.Tennessee in their.

I hope the Vikings let Darnold walk and give the ball to McCarthy. They will look like the Bears, except with better WR's. While I don't know a ton about JJ McCarthy, I just wasn't that impressed with him as a college QB.

There’s a lot of ways he could politely express disinterest in returning? When asked if he’d go to the Bears he said hell no.

I don’t know what reason anyone has to be dismissive of Adams possibly returning.

Davante was a former Packer, so I wouldn't expect much of a different answer out of him when asked about playing for the Bears.

I don't think I am being dismissive about the possibility of Adams coming back to play for Green Bay. I'm just voicing my opinion as to the odds of it happening, which I think are low. Besides the fact that he wanted out of Green Bay in 2022, I don't think the Packers will spend the money that it would take to have him back.

Packer fans seem to have gotten excited about Davante's response to a Kay Adams question asking his opinion of what the Packers will be doing in the coming months to improve the roster.

“It’s looking right now like they might need some receiver help in one way or the other. “Maybe a veteran or something we’ll see.”

I just don't see that as Davante saying "I wanna play for the Packers again."
