Looks like we dropped the UDFA DT we got, and stole a different UDFA from 2023 from the 49ers.

The guy we got is strong side DE material. I seen 285 and 295. Ran a 4.91. average on his reps and a 32 or 33 " vert. His short yardage drills were high end numbers. Great burst and speed, agility for a guy that size. He was all acc or something , and was surprised to go undrafted....

Anyways. Sounds like a good guy for the rotation.

Good catch. Here a quick write up on him. This is one of those highly athletic prospects that could fight for a Roster spot. He has a few things going for him. SF churns our DL like we do OL. We didn’t draft at DL either and he’s got 1 season on the 49ers PS, which speaks to him being a fringe player there in SF. He did come from the FCS, but was a highly productive player for N Dakota as seen here

That's too bad. PFF just listed him as the player to watch on the Packers undrafted free agents list. Guess there goes that. I felt like it was Donovan Jennings out of South FL to begin with.

In the same respect, Jennings has to compete with a lot of guys that are veterans and draftees. They added Morgan, Monk and Glover as rookies and then there's the mainstays like Jenkins, Tom, and Myers. He's probably looking at the practice squad. The Packers have had at least one UDFA make the team the last 19 years in row though. It will probably end up being Peter Bowden at long snapper to keep the streak to 20 years.

The silver lining was that he decided quickly, and Green Bay can move forward and evaluate other players at his position.

One that really stands out to me is 26-year-old quarterback Jacob Eason.
He was drafted in the fourth round by the Colts back in 2020 and has seen action in two NFL regular season games, completing 5 of 10 passes for 84 yards and two interceptions.

Also, the Packers have listed former third-string quarterback Alex McGough as a receiver — which leaves the team with just three quarterbacks on their 90-man roster. Maybe why they are giving Eason a tryout?

This is the little things that fans never see, because they aren't looking inside the game itself, to individual match ups. For scouts, and the coaching staff, it's endless hours of reviewing game film, and seeing these things that helps determine whether or not a player might be what they're looking for.

When people ask the question as to why they made a decision to draft someone, they have no idea the work that went in to making that decision.

I circled back to some of our UDFA's. This guy is fun to watch, Messiah Swinson. Although there isn't a ton of tape on him, I like what I see. At 6' 8", he could be quite a nice target in the red zone.

Long shot, but who knows.

Messiah is a team first work pale type dude - have a scouting connect that has met him and know where he off season trained. My scout connect texted me when he signed and said "33% chance you guys just signed your TE3 for 2026 if not 2025"

Long shots pane out at times....Messiah will be fighting for a spot this year, but unless he amazes and can prove ST contributor I expect PS stache.

Would love to see more film on him, to see how he blocks, runs routes, etc. Just that small sample I saw had him lined up as a slot receiver quite a bit. I might have to dig up a few ASU games and watch.

If this guy spends some time in the weight room, becomes a solid blocking TE, he could be quite a future weapon.

It appears that Gute has done a decent job of assembling a 90 man roster that is designed to put a lot of pressure on everyone from top to bottom to improve their game.

Sure doesn't stop the clamoring hordes from howling to the heavens their righteous fury, at the incompetent imbeciles who somehow were foolish enough to cut this player - this player who had so much potential that even the ordinary fan could clearly see it.
