Never believe what coaches say about players (when it's positive)...only believe the coaches' actions. I doubt Watkins is a cut but NOT because MLF was unwilling to publicly say that Watkins is a cut option in June (not really the best motivational tactic).

There’s a difference between saying “he’s doing a good job and we’re excited to see what comes next with him” and “he’s going to be a big part of our offense”. Watkins is a good run blocking WR, they’re going to keep him.

I agree. As it stands, Sammy is easily a top 3 candidate for production. My best guess is he’s going to finish top 2 area on our team. While Lazard is obviously poised to take a leap in production, Sammy is a more proven player overall. He’s went up against some of the better DB’s in the league and that experience can’t be denied. As long as he’s on the field, he’s either OUR WR1/WR2. His only real knock is availability, so we need to get
12+ games from him this season and I’m content.

As I said, I believe they'll keep him if only because he's a vet (and they need to have some of those). My point was that every coach lies constantly and you can't believe anything they say during training camp (unless it's negative and then it's a MASSIVE issue).

? I think MLF is a great coach. Part of being a great coach is not sh!tting on your players publicly; no good coach is going to tell the public anything negative unless the coach is really, REALLY over the player.

I hope they don't keep him just because he is a vet. If they keep him I hope he is better than one of the young guys they let go.

As mentioned before I agree that most of the time there's no reason to put any stock into what coaches tell the media. In that case I fully believe MLF was honest about Watkins being a big part of the offense this season though. Not because he's a veteran but the most talented receiver on the roster.

Appears Cobb now has for a little time been dealing with a foot issue...Amari was already going to have more chances this year for sure, but the door is cracking open - what he does with that is to be determined.

And again don’t pretend this means he is a lock, however like I said when he was drafted, mentally and from a proven stance I saw Doubs as arguably the most ready WR in the draft out the gate. His ceiling isn’t quite as high but to me he screams a WR2 long term for his career.

He continues to stack days rookie orientation, workouts, training camp in shorts and no pads, now TC with pads….all the while holding the same mentality he always has…no play is worth getting hyped about if you mess up the next one. Very promising

I think Doubs has the tools to be a top receiver in the league. I keep thinking about how he seems to compare to Donald Driver coming into the league, and remember where he ended up in the scheme of Packer history.

This doesn't mean he will be a splashy type receiver, but I think he could end up being the kind of target that can help make throwing the ball a lot easier, because he knows where to be, and when to be there, on broken plays.

This is just my opinion, but I think people might be pleasantly surprised by how good he really is.

I agree. I don’t remember a WR making such a high impact early into camp (in GB). The 2nd of 4 stages is he needs to just needs to carry that early momentum through Preseason. I say that meaning I personally see step 3 as acclimating to Regular season play speed.
Ultimately, step 4 is Mastery of the position in the playoffs against the best competition.

Tons of film of his catches, 1v1 vs Stokes, family night stuff is out there. Everyone thinking he's gonna be a WR1 this year is just being crazy....however as I personally said when we drafted him, he is presently of more polish and ready WR material than Watson is. Doubs will be an awesome solid depth WR4 type guy when needed his rookie year, with who knows how high of ceiling in the future.

It’s always best to see live action against an opponent. We should get a better feel over the next several weeks also.

Aaron Rodgers believes the defenses he's going against in practice team sessions is more a sign than any preseason game given the vanilla defense and lack of any real schemes or blitz packages done in them.

I tend to value PS a little more than Aaron personally, but I do get what he is saying though.

I thought it was funny how Rodgers said every time they would play Tennessee in preseason, the Titans would drop 8 players every time when the Packers entered the RedZone area.
He kinda laughed and thought that was just weird and would’ve never happen in regular season

a little separation and he went right by, nice to see him pull away from a legit fast DB. If he's doing that consistently and can beat it when they put their hands on him, this is going to fun watching the young kid shine.

Honestly one of the biggest takeaways about Doubs has been his ability to win contested or "ball battles" he has had a few endzone catches that were called PI in practices even this year. I'm not saying he's gonna go ball out and put up Adams like numbers, but Doubs truly from all fronts is the polished route runner and producer I thought he was when drafted. There are only two question marks left to find out...when the BIG NFL lights come on what happens and can he sustain it/grow it now that he is here.

It seems Doubs has the right mindset to have an impact early as well. I loved what he said about having lunch with Rodgers in the video below.

I agree with Mondio that I want to see Doubs making plays against opposing NFL cornerbacks as well before making any predictions on how he might end up developing.
