I guess it isn't truly a matter if can it happen, but more of a matter if it should happen. Granted other venues probably will have inflated numbers due to the people already in those venues for other tourist/population center numbers. Like I have said before, Cleveland's draft in 2021 will be more of a true comparison for Green Bay than Nashville, Chicago, or Las Vegas. And I never intended to seem like I was trashing Green Bay, it is a smaller city and that is part of why I love the Green Bay Packers. It is unique, and successful, and I am proud to be a fan.

It's all good. I was just having fun.

I think the draft is a slim possibility for the reasons you mentioned. But I am hoping!

It would be nice to have the draft in GB. Reminds me of when ESPN hosted the 2 day affair in NY. Remember back in 1983 when the draft was a suttle event? No flash or roar of the crowds. Comm. Pete Rozell would get up to the podium and read off the player name with no excitement or camera photos? Kind of boring compaired to todays money hungry event.

Yup. I am convinced if the NFL and Television could figure out a way to make money off of broadcasting an NFL player taking a dump, they would. But who can blame them, they are just doing what most do or want to do, tap into a cash cow situation.

since it's all logistics, i'll just hire UPS. You tell me, what does the draft entail that GB can't handle? Any major metro the odds that you are 10 minutes from your event are very small. How far do you think people were put up when Jerry World held the Super Bowl? Next door? NO, they were an hour away at least many times. That puts you roughly in MKE BFD.

This notion the draft is such an extravaganza there is no way GB could host it is laughable. They have the venue, there are beds within reason like every other event across America and they have the backdrop.

Surely most of those beds would be occupied by draftees, families, coaches, team officials etc ?? I don`t think there is any shame in saying Green Bay isn`t equipped to deal with such a big event. Why not do it in London and give us foreign fans a go ? :whistling:

Our medium security prison can accommodate 340 if we go with an early release program.

Air BnB can accommodate another 36 people.

Our cold war fall out shelter system can house another 8,000.

Camper World on hwy 41 has nearly 240 units just sitting there . .

Man, you just arent thinking creatively . . .

What are we up to?

And Paul McCartney could fly in and do a half-time set ?

You seem to be in denial over the fact that the draft has become a huge event and has grown in popularity?

Like I said, I am on the fence. IF the Packers and the city of Green Bay can present a reasonable plan as to how they can safely and comfortably accommodate what is thought to be a realistic attendance number for those 3 days, then go for it.

However, as someone who grew up in Madison and watched a totally unexpected 100,000 people just show up to pack into State St. to celebrate Halloween and the damage and injuries that ensued, I would worry about Green Bays ability to handle a totally unexpected and unplanned for large tick in attendance.
How am I in denial? If they need to accommodate 600K people, they aren't going to do it. Nashville didn't draw 600K people to the draft. i'd bet my life on it. Most people don't do anything more than pay attention with varying degrees of focus depending on the round or what team is picking from their TV or draft tracker on a phone.

Vegas will probably beat that 600K number easily, just because everyone is there for the party anyway. And there will be just as many there for the next party the day after the NFL leaves town.

There is plenty between GB and MKE for people to stay and it's no different than staying in any other metro area for a large event other than you're actually covering miles in your hour commute. and i'm still not convinced that many people make specific travel plans to attend the draft. And I don't have much doubt that GB could handle 200K people over 3 days for a draft event. Of course an 18" snow storm in April would make it interesting and it would be fine by me. I'd volunteer to shuttle folks on my snowmobile and even pull a tube for more passengers to get the real WI experience.

Let's make weather a factor again :)

A few thoughts:

I doubt the 600k in Nashville that they all came there for that. It looked like the main street and Nashville already attracts large crowds.

Green Bay and connected communities is just under 300k.

Appleton is another 280k about 30 miles upriver.

I think GB could handle an event of 200k, but getting bigger would be tough. A fleet of buses coming and going to MKE may do the trick, but not sure how practical that is.

Anyway, who cares? What's important is I live nearby and i will be able to attend.
Come Back, Little Sheba! Hey, your old neighborhood is pretty much the same. Well, Claim Jumper is gone but it is supposed to be replaced by Chick-Fil-A sooner or later. In-N-Out Burger and Cane's opened up on Sahara and Hualapai right in front of Sprouts. You can avoid the crowds and Strip prices.

No. Not going back. I did visit about a year ago.

Baja Fresh was gone no burrito ultimo
Glaizers was gone - no philly cheese
The Lift: no more $4.95 20oz porterhouse
Prommares: owner passed away - best thai food
Mac Shack - my daughters fav gone
The Venetian (restaurant on Sahara) and Carmines. Both amazing Italian food gone while I still lived there.

All my favorites.

Place is going downhill. Maybe the loss of my patronage had that much effect.

Oh, and we just got a PF Changs.

We're good.

I differ on the ammount of options for entertainment in Las Vegas vs Green Bay/Madison, but I am a degenerate gambler too. The purist in me agrees that a Green Bay draft is more NFL centric than a LV, LA, NO or even Nashville draft would be. I really don't think the weather in April would be that much more different than NY, Chicago, or MN. I think MN would be a more realistic option for the region, but bleh MN. Green Bay is the holy grail for the NFL, and I would love to make the trip for a game, the draft, or even a preseason game. Where I live, ATL or Carolina would be closer and I am sure they would draw huge crowds as well. I am glad 2021 is going to Cleveland, it is a city of NFL history like Chicago, and Green Bay. That will be the real gauge for a Green Bay draft in my opinion. No offense intended, sorry for being so confrontational.

I try to get to as many Packer games as I can, but would have zero interest in attending the draft. I've seen the City, the Stadium, the Packer HOF, etc. I wouldn't care to be packed into Sardine can to hear Roger Goodell get booed and 31 other teams selections, that I really don't care that much about. I envision more non-Packer fans at the event than local/regional Packer fans.

That's where you are wrong, pal. I'm not saying Oneida Casino in Green Bay is like Vegas, but it is close.

They just added live card games, too. I was there last week and did pretty good. Well, I lost at Go Fish and Canasta, but more than made up for it at the Old Maid and Crazy 8s tables.

I'm surprised so many people would want to attend the NFL Draft. 99% of it is just sitting and waiting for the next announcement.

But they'll have the NFL Experience there, which is a fun event. I was in GB last year for the Packers Experience which was really fun.

If their goal is to draw 600 thousand people, they're going to have to ignore almost the entirety of the NFL in ever hosting anything of importance other than a football game. GB would have no problem hosting the NFL draft. I"ve watched a lot of NFL drafts over the years and I can't remember EVER seeing a contingent of more than a few thousand fans present and 30 or so draftees let alone a few hundred thousand.

If GB can host and NFCCG, they can host the draft.
Oshkosh can handle 600,000 people in the week but Green Bay can't do it for 3 days?

I think I saw you driving home in your buggy? Looked like you lost at the strip poker table?

wow, this really turned into a yes we can/no we can't rant from people

You must not have watched too many of the recent drafts. There was 600,000 people that attended the event in Nashville last year. "The three-day 2019 NFL Draft set an attendance record for the league. The league announced estimated attendance of 600,000, including visitors on Lower Broadway by the draft stage and those who visited the Draft Experience exhibits by Nissan Stadium.Apr 29, 2019."

https://www.bizjournals.com/nashvil...-draft-sets-attendance-attendance-record.html

The Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex is home to 6.8 million people. Comparing it to Green Bay is ludicrous. If 600,000 people showed up at Green Bay it would more than quintruple the population overnight. You really should look up these numbers before posting such nonsense.

Just wondering if you read that report yourself, it states in it that it wasn't 600k different people, but was the accumulation of the three days attendance, so around 200k individuals really give or take. it doesn't state how many were locals and how many were visitors, i would imagine the majority were locals.

IMO, the event will attract as many people as the location can accommodate, if GB and surrounding areas can accomodate 64k visitors then it is entirely possible that GB could host the draft
