Price, Mcaffrey, Clark, Hill and maybe Gilbert all have a legitimate reason to scratch their heads. My only thinking is that these players were cut because it was felt they had a better chance to slip them onto the Practice Squad.

He will be on the PS or someone else's 53. He's not done yet. and GB will still cut at least 2 more players or IR them and it could be as high as 4 changes I think before it's set for week 1.

To be eligible to return from IR, I believe players have to make the initial 53.

Wouldn't surprise me if M. Adams or Barclay or both are IR-ed Monday or Tuesday and then re-sign someone like Price.

...who's playing nose after Clark...
That would be Francois. And the Packers only play a 3 man line about 20% of the time if recent history holds true.

So, it's a calculation: 1 position for 20% snaps or 2 positions for perhaps 75% snaps with a sprinkling one DL snaps. Without "OLBs" like Jones and Peppers to take down snaps in nickel, having DE types becomes more important.

I thought I read that was the rule, but now it has been changed. I don't follow closely enough to know the details so either being true wouldn't surprise me

Yeah you used to have to designate a player to return from IR at the time you put him on IR and only one could have the designation. This year you can have two players return and no longer need to designate them until they are ready to return instead of doing it up front and being locked into just that player being eligible to return. If I remember correctly, last year you didn't have to make the designation upfront either, but memory is not my best friend anymore.

I'm actually a bit confused about placing a player on the IR before the 53 man cut down period. Can't a player be put on IR before the cutdown to 53? I thought that was allowed and if it is, I am confused as to why M. Adams and possibly Barclay weren't just placed directly on IR (if that is where they now end up) and the Packers would have had those 2 roster spots for other players.

Edit: Found my answer. Players placed on IR prior to the 53, can't be brought back. Guessing the Packers think both Adams and Barclay stand a good chance to return at some point and wanted to keep that option open if they decide to IR them after placing them on the 53.

If you put a player that has practiced during preseason on IR before cutdown day they can't return during the season. If you do it after cutdown day, they are eligible to return during the season. That's why Adams was still on active roster. I am sure today or tomorrow they will IR him, then use his roster spot to sign Brooks.

Bingo.....found that answer as you were posting yours. ;) Thanks. Makes sense once I read it. I doubt Barclay ends up on IR, but Adams is most likely headed there.

Will be interesting to see how TT shuffles the roster in the coming days, I am pretty confident to say that I don't think Brooks will be the only player added to the 53.

And that's why the d always sucks it took Clark a year or more to become a pro DL ,Adams coming out of college isnt projected as high as Clark , who's playing nose if Clark gets injured Adams
Clark was a rookie last year and really was looking very good by the end of last season..... So "a year or more" seems like hyperbole.

On the other hand Joe Callahan has cleared waivers but it isn't guaranteed that the Packers are interested in signing him to their practice squad.

Thanks Cheeseheads, I love Brian Price he will look nice with a star on his helmet. I hear he has plenty of upside and we could use the help.

According to their agents the Packers signed Joe Callahan and Reggie Gilbert to the practice squad.

The Saints have claimed Taysom Hill off waivers.

If I remember correctly... they grabbed Callahan for a while last year too.

 McCarthy has been "Saintified" one more time! Hill will be with Cleveland soon enough and then available by mid season for the Packers to reacquire.

I was hoping Hill would be on our PS, but if it ends up being Callahan...no big deal.
