as long as its not chicago kicking us into the basement. the north remembered and now this division is the toughest in forever.and while it’s not solidified. In many cases it at least gives us some semblance of how far in or out we are to date. It’s probably a little frivolous after 2 contests, but we are 8 games in
The one thing I always liked is we can get beat by MN, but if we beat Detroit (and Detroit has already beat MN) Detroit would bump MN underneath the Packers. In some ways postseason qualifying is interesting.
literally. Most wins in the North since the Merger. About to level off a little, The later Intra Division games has helped that along, but it’s still been impressive. The rankings show that. Zero Teams in our Division have an Offense or Defense scoring ranking outside the Top 16 (top 50%). It speaks to 4 “well rounded” rosters in both phases.as long as its not chicago kicking us into the basement. the north remembered and now this division is the toughest in forever.
Good luck with all the rain pounding the Midwest. I do not know if the weather helps or hurts us. Lions love the indoor. The rain might neutralize some of their speed. But it becomes a game of special teams and turnovers which are really impacted in weather like this.I'll be at the game. It won't be pretty and I'm hoping for a win, but I am not sure that the Packers are at the same level as the Lions right now. They are a fine-tuned Hemi v8 and we are a currently a turbo v6 with a lot of mechanical issues. I hope that will change by the time we play them in Detroit, but they are the better team right now.
LaFleur needs to play smash-mouth football and let his defense be aggressive. Right now - our best plan of attack is to play old school ball against them.
All good points. I'm all for starting Love if he is healed, but groin injuries usually don't vanish in a week, and there is likely some lingering issue with the MCL. It would be a huge win, but if it's a grind-it-out game anyway, it doesn't matter that much if it's Willis or Love. Willis isn't gonna light it up, but he wouldn't need to. And Willis has been solid with ball security. If it's up to me I think I'm going Willis in this one. Obviously not a doctor, but IMO Love's yet to really look 100% since returning from his week 1 injury. That alone is enough to give me pause. Now I'm hearing it's supposed to be rainy on gameday - that tends to point more towards a run heavy game and I have to think it's going to be easier to risk reinjury (when it's a lower body/leg/groin issue) running around on a soggy/wet/slippery/etc field than a nice dry one. And to top it all off I do think there's some conventional wisdom that would suggest that the best way to try and beat a team like the lions might just be to play a game of ball control. I don't think "start Willis and go super run heavy" is enough on its own, but keeping the ball out of their hands as much as possible might be the ticket. And to top it all off with the rest of our guys carrying nagging injuries and the bye coming up....as much as I'd like to win and jump to #1, I just think it makes a lot more sense to rest some guys to let them heal up all the way, start Willis and perhaps be surprised.
I didn't know Gluten moved up to get him. That's great scouting and incredible value. That said, he'll be missed for the game with the Lions.Evan Williams has not disappointed. That kid looks to be a steal there in RD4. No wonder we moved up to get him.
Yeah. It was something like a #125 natural 4th. We paired it with another later Day 3 and moved up to #111 toI didn't know Gluten moved up to get him. That's great scouting and incredible value. That said, he'll be missed for the game with the Lions.
He is still a PS, merely exercising one of his elevations for gameday available.I was just looking at the active roster and noticed CB Kamal Hadden was listed. I will be watching to see if #36 gets any meaningful snaps. Kalen King and Rochell are listed on the PS, so maybe Hadden has been impressing a little in practice, to be moved up over those two.
That's high praise, but he's certainly earned it. His picks in rounds 4 through 7 have been pretty amazing, and his work in FA has also been great. That's just my gut reaction. Just seems like 4-7 is his sweet spot. Also gotta give a lot of credit to his scouts.Gluten is looking more and more like Ron Wolf every day.
I will say before this game happens, if we get out of this game with a win…I don’t want to hear anyone *****.
****. With Williams out he had to go.Alexander is out. Detroit has a strong receiving corps.
I've been slumming around these sites since '98 or so ... and this is what fan forums are built on. Same stuff everywhere.Don't you know wins must be pretty. If the Lions make any 1st downs, score any points, drop any balls, have a turnover or if the Packers have any penalties then 'We got lucky and escaped. We played any other team this week it would have been a loss'
