True. The clay turns to mud pretty fast. What we need is a slow rain for a couple of days, with no flooding. It seems like we can't have a rain event without it being several inches in a short span of time. It ends up as run off and flooding, not a good ground soak.
I lived in central Texas back in the 80's. The weather was very extreme. Extreme heat, extreme rain events, extreme dust storms followed by heavy rain filled with mud falling from the sky. Tornadoes and hurricanes and even saw a 10 inch snow in 6 hours. Texas is just a hot mess.

I bet those old Referees would be amazed at all the rule changes today. It’s almost a different sport

Like they say down here. If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes. It will change.

We've been running around 103-105 daytime, and anywhere from 78-81 nights, here in Austin. Down in the valley, it's been running a degree warmer with both highs and lows. No rain in over a month and a half here in the Austin area, and longer than that down in the RGV. Horrible summer!
Midwest is in for a week long heat wave starting today. Not exactly football weather.

It's cooler down here right now. It's only 98 degrees. Gonna drop down to about 81 tonight. We'll be putting on the wooly knickers.

I know. Just about the time we think we can break out the snowshoes, it warms up again.

When asked, about why we moved where we did, I told people that a tied a snow shovel to the roof of our car, and we headed South. When I got to a place that someone looked at it, and said; "What's that?", I knew we arrived.

Sadly, it will be cold in no time and soon we will all want some Schweddy Balls!

I love Schweddy Balls, they’re a great addition to any Holiday table. Although..
if we all have them at the same time it can be somewhat problematic.:whistling: Kinda like our Chestnuts all roasting by an open fire
