We always talk about who or what position the Packers might use their first pick on. I am curious as to what position(s) people are quite sure they won't use that first pick on.

I will go first:

LS, P, K, QB, RB, TE, S, OLB, ILB, WR, DL, OL, CB

Personally I think it will be OL, DL or CB - so no to everywhere else.

Hybrid hand down or up type Edge guy I could see as an outside shot at the same degree as a WR....I'd place odds at less than 10% but are more than 0% in my opinion.

You think they’d pass on Zaven Collins if he was available at 29?

I'd rather this thread stayed a contest thread and draft comments get added to one of the gazillion other threads that turned into a draft analysis.

So just to be clear, you only want contest entries and nothing else? Seems a bit dry and takes away some of the fun that we have had in the past with this.

Last several I've looked at stayed fairly close to the topic. Any sidetracks were short. You seemed to be the instigator of a fair share of them.

You say "instigator" like its a bad thing?

Someone has to lighten the mood up on occasion, but what do I know?

I think the Hybrid/ "Star" position is going to be addressed in Rd 1 or 2. An underrated position of need in this draft is EDGE, after this year Z and Gary will need some help.... I just don't see Preston being signed again, in fact I, along with probably 99% of Packers fans, figured he was going to be gone already. Also, how expensive will Z be next year? I would really like for the team to find a way for Z to stay, but you never know. I feel Gute will look to add an EDGE early who can be Gary's partner, most likely in round 3 or 4.

Looks like we’ll have a smaller field of entries this year unless we get a bunch to jump in at the last minute.

The smart ones wait until Thursday morning, read all of ours and go with the consensus picks. Of course, we can edit ours too. :)

Would be fun to compile a list of the top 5 picks of posters (Jenkins, Newsome, Collins?). I think only 1 person even mentioned Love last year? No Willie Beaver this year.

Few years back many were hot on some German gadget player the Vikings drafted in rd 6 IIRC. You never heard of him again.

I like it when predictors in this contest blow almost half their 20 slots in rounds 1 & 2. The winners typically hit a day 3 pick which carry a lot more weight. One rd 7 pick outpoints both rds 1 & 2 combined.

I think the commissioner or a bored stats guy poster has done it in post draft analysis in the past.
