Lol... I don't like Charlie Campbell but you don't see my coming unhinged if you mention him. Bring up whoever you want.

Yes, I really like Jeremiah. I also really like Brugler and Zierlein. As I can't get to the majority of prospects, I value the opinions of qualified people who watch them and post their assessments. And I disagree with all of them at times too.

I'm sorry that what I like to read is so hard for you. Here's hoping you can get over it.

Well it's pretty obvious why Jeremiah is a "Former personnel Scout" but believe what you want.

"THIS IS WHAT DANTE DOES" which is challenge Brandon with regurgitated takes from Jeremiah, Brugler and Zierlien because he can't come up with any on his own.

Daniel Jeremiah was a former scout? Wow...here I am thinking he was just some pretty boy broadcast major who somehow got lucky. I never pay attention to him, but I'm not knocking you if you do. I do like Charlie, Walter, Steve, and Mayock myself I take their information, combined with regional sources(the REAL scouts), my own eye test, and form my board from there.

I have another mock based on Senior Bowl week I'll post after the game pending the tape. Brandon will probably crown me the greatest GM of all time on this board if I did. :roflmao: But I'm sure it will change.

I watched three Montez Sweat games this afternoon.

That guy isn't an elite prospect, but he does have an elite trait-- length.

He presses and slithers he way around tackles and guards in a really unique way. He controls the engagement by getting hands on the OT before the latter can return the favor and can typically can disengage at will. Doesn't have a plus first step and isn't really a bender. Employs a push pull move that allows him to get through the tackle in a hurry.

He has a surprising amount of power behind his pads for being a taller, slimmer player. When he drops his pad level, he can shock people and march them backwards.

He's a tough eval for Pettine's defense. He never stands up and he never drops. MSU used him as RE, LE, and occasional interior rusher. That doesn't mean he can't play in our system, but it's also hard to say definitively that he can.

He spent 4 years working for the Ravens, two as a personnel assistant and two more as a west coast scout. He then spent two years as a national scout with the Browns, and finally three as a west coast scout with the Eagles. At least one team, the Eagles, interviewed him for a head personnel job in 2016, which he declined. As he puts it, the media gig allows him a lot more time with his family.

None of that means that everything he puts out is gospel. But his voice is much more worthwhile than the vast majority of what's out there.

Sweat is a "safe pick" but I don't like him at 12 and had him mocked to us in round 2 ealier in the process where I think he really provides value.

You have "disrupters" and then you have "finesse guys" and I put Sweat somewhere in the middle. I don't believe he will be even close to an elite edge player but do see him as someone that could be serviceable. This is where I see some Packer fans wanting edge edge edge and I see a tendancy to reach and just slot an edge in at 12 just because it is a need. Then we somehow magically hope we get better because we invested a premium pick like Thompson did in the secondary so often.

Personally I like disrupters and guys that play mean on defense. I want guys that straight beat there opponents down and win one on one and that's why I have Ferguson ahead of Sweat. If we can get D.White(big time disrupter) then we have the capital to get both Ferguson and Campbell which would be amazing. We would of adressed three huge needs and would have the rest of draft to help solidify OL and RB. This is all contingent on getting a safety in free agency.

Compared to the other players I've watched, I wouldn't want him at #12.

Oh my word, does it seem like you guys are in agreement then? Let me join in on the fun, cause I feel like he is a reach at 12 too. However, Id be more than happy to take Sweat with 30 if we didnt address EDGE at 12

Watching T.J. Hockenson tonight. I definitely understand why people are so high on him. It's rare to find a true Y tight end who blocks this well, can work the middle of the field, and threatens the seam. He has that wiggle at the top of his route to separate that great TE's have. And his speed on crossing routes made him a pretty serious weapon.

TE's are tough to project in terms of draft position. They routinely seem to go lower than expected or projected. It may well be that Hockenson is a top 10-15 prospect in this class based on his grade, but still goes back half of round one because of positional value.

Some people think I don't like Hockenson but I do for all reasons described above. It's just with so many other needs and already in a contract with Graham I don't see how the Packers can use a top pick on him. Maybe Lafluer prefers two TE sets more then having a true slot type reciever and they go Hockenson with adding a slot later in draft. I have heard talk that they want to run the ball so maybe that's the direction they could go.

This whole draft is rather difficult to figure out with Packers because of new coaching staff and only being Gute's second draft.

I like Hockenson and think he's going to be pretty good. I don't know any of these guys to have a really strong opinion as to which should be at #12 or #30 or 2nd round etc. All I know, if they think they have a bonafide playmaker at any position staring at them when they pick and a bunch of other good players at positions that might be of more need, I hope they take the game changer, regardless of position. and I mean that, Oline, Dline, Linebacker (either position) RB, TE, DB's. I guess my to exceptions are probably QB, because I think the odds a QB like rodgers is available in any draft is so small i'm not really considering it and WR, as I think the league and drafts are loaded with WR's. While some achieve greater fame than others, I don't find WR's to have that great of a talent gap between round 1 and 2 or 3 really.

I think if you look at how much LaFleur is trying to run a Shanahan-like system, then it seems like he would really like Hockenson who's the most similar to a George Kittle in the draft.

With that said, there is a ton of value at TE in the draft this year. I really, really like Hockenson...not sure I'd want to draft him at #12 or not. I could probably get talked into it.

I agree about the “disrupters”. Imo, from what I’ve watched on guys like Ferrell, sweat, Polite, Polite seems to be the most disruptive and the best pure pass rusher. Any concerns about Ferrell and sweat more profiled as a 43 end than a 34 olb?

Sweat has problems getting around OTs when he's standing up. Not saying he can't be a good 3-4 OLB but probably strong side only and let CM3 handle weak side. That's why is White is gone, I'm trading back for Polite and Sweat. I'd say Top 25 grades for both.

I typically think that 3-4 vs. 4-3 distinctions are overblown, but in Sweat's case I am guessing that even front teams will have a much higher grade on him.

Some could argue that the Packers need more of 4-3 DE type with what Pettine would like to really do on defense scheme wise and Nick Perry being such a disaster.

I'm not that high on Polite at all and definitely not at no.12. I'm happy with just going with Fackrell(10.5sacks) then gambling our 12th pick on defense again on a situational pass rusher with red flags.

Isn’t Perry more of a 4-3 de type?

He's saying that because Perry flopped so miserably, someone more like him (i.e. Ferrell, Sweat, Ferguson, etc) would make more sense than more of a traditional rush linebacker (i.e. Allen, Polite, etc).

Yes, but Perry isn't that good no matter where you put him and Pettine has been kind of handcuffed to run schemes due to acquiring Capers personnel.

With that being the case I'm never gonna love Polite at 12. If they can't get D.White and have to pick at 12 I'd much rather have them go Christian Wilkins as the value is way way higher getting an impact player.

Well apparently three other posters can have their own, unique mock draft threads actually. It's just minte that gets changed for no apparent reason. It couldn't possible by that one moderator is petty and arbritrary, could it?

@Poppa San @longtimefan @Zartan @buggybill2003

I've been away on holiday for a week with my wife. Not me and I have witnesses. And I'm with Poppa on this, Making unfounded accusations in the tone you are doesn't exactly help your case.
