I bet McCarthy is livid TT released taysom hill now. Gotta give Hundley another chance with a full week of game planning specific to him. But it be tempted to argue hill would give the packers a better chance to win a few games while Rodgers recovers. I was really not a fan of giving up on hill like they did. It was obvious to anyone he wasn't gonna make it thru waivers

I agree that Hill was an intriguing prospect but you can't keep everyone. I believe that if the Packers had traded Hundley then Hill would have been on the final roster. Callahan was kept as the emergency quarterback probably because he has been on and off with several teams and the Packers were sure they would not lose him.

There should be a "Nobody Else" option. Behind this O-Line, there literally is nobody else.

We should look for innovation here imo. Ignore the QB fully.

Option 1:
Snap the ball straight to the RB. Have a FB is QB place so he can run interference.

Option 2:
Try some Trick Plays and confuse the D-Line. Like that Dallas last play of the game!

;)

Hundley is the most promising and polished QB by far. Hill and Callahan were similar in my book, and I think that's why TT released them both. Callahan was impressive last year in training camp. Hill got more reps and was more impressive this year in training camp. My read was that Hill was better at running to gain yards but worse at passing. Callahan was better at running to make plays but not much of a duel-threat.

McCarthy stated that Hundley and Callahan are the guys, but he and TT would be absolutely morons if they didn't sign a third-string QB. Rodgers was getting killed by this O-line. Hundley got blasted a bunch yesterday. The injuries could keep happening so we need to have a third QB taking reps and at least learning the system. I'm of the BPA mindset at backup QB. We don't need to worry as much about who is the best fit at that level, just who is the best QB.

I don't think they need to sign 3 at once.. They certainly are not going to dress 3 for any single game... and whatever is available on the free agent market will probably be about the same when and if they needed to sign another one.

Hundley is already signed. Callahan will be signed off of our own practice squad. I think that we will need to carry 3 QBs on the gameday roster. We've carried two because Rodgers has been relatively reliable.

No way they have 3 on the game day roster... only 45 can dress they can't afford 3 QBs .... show me a team that does that.

Hundley definitely gives the Packers the best chance to win games moving forward. While Hill performed at a decent level vs. second- and third stringers during the preseason there's no reason to believe he would have excelled in the regular season. In my opinion it doesn't matter a whole lot currently having him or Callahan as the backup.

McCarthy said during his press conference that the Packers had several quarterbacks in for a workout yesterday and that the team will most likely sign one to the practice squad within the next few days.

FWIW there are 46 players active for game day.

Oops ... sorry you are correct. However, I stand by my point that it is extremely unlikely that the Packers would dress 3 QBs on game day.

I agree as long as Hundley is fully healthy. The team had three quarterbacks active on game day for several weeks late in the 2014 season when there was uncertainty about Rodgers' calf injury though.
