The special teams return game needs better blocking for anyone to do much on returns. That’s been a bugaboo for years now.
I have often wondered that, but I also became convinced that Shepherd just wasn't the guy for the job. He seemed to just be put in there to fair catch punts and "be safe" on kickoffs, he kind of failed all the way around IMO. He definitely looked timed and scared by the end.
I'm anxious to see what another player can do. Austin never excelled at KO returns, so it will be interesting to see who they use for that job.
