Heading into free agency, what do the Packers actually need and how should their needs be ranked?

This is how I currently see the roster shaping up:

QB: Love, Willis (2)
RB: Jacobs, Lloyd, Wilson (3)
TE: Kraft, Musgrave (2)
WR: Doubs, Wicks, Reed (3)
OT: Walker, Tom (2)
iOL: Jenkins, Rhyan, Morgan, Monk (4)
iDL: Clark, Wyatt, Brooks, Wooden (4)
DE: Gary, Van Ness, Enagbare, Cox (4)
LB: Walker, Cooper, McDuffie, Hopper (4)
CB: Nixon, Valentine (2)
NB: Bullard (1)
S: McKinney, Williams, Anderson, Oladapo (4)
ST: McManus, Whelan, Orzech (3)
Total: 38

There are some others currently on the roster who could push for a spot: Sims (TE), Melton (WR), Heath (WR), Johnson (WR), Glover (OT), Telfort (G), Jennings (OL), Mosby (DE), King (CB), Brown (S) and they will certainly be in camp.

But as I look at the roster, I'm at least wanting to add competition at 15 spots. Here's how I rank them in terms of how pressing they are:

Tier One: Large FA investment, trade, or 1st/2nd round pick

1. CB:
A player capable of starting on the outside immediately.
2. WR: A starting X receiver capable of defeating man-coverage, preferably with vertical speed.
3. DE: High-end starter to complement the sufficient depth.

Tier Two: Moderate FA investment or day 2/mid-round pick

4. iDL:
Minimum-- run defense specialist to rotate with Clark; Maximum-- future starter at 1T.*
5. iOL: Assuming GB is willing to move Jenkins to OC and start Morgan-Jenkins-Rhyan, a quality C/G swing man.
6. OT: Swing tackle with developmental upside in case Walker departs next off-season.
7. CB: Quality depth and possible competition to push Nixon and Valentine for one of the top roles.
8. WR: A developmental piece to complement the larger investment (either a vertical niche guy or possession to succeed Doubs).

Tier Three: Low-end FA investment or mid-late round pick

9. OL: Versatile depth piece to compete with current 90-man players for a roster spot.
10. TE: A blocking-first TE to compete with others for a spot on the 53.
11. QB: A developmental arm to push for a QB3 role with potential to replace Willis in 2026.
12. CB: Depth player to compete with Kalen King, others for a spot on the 53.

Tier Four: Late round pick or undrafted free agency

13. LB:
Depth player to compete with others for a spot on the 53, primarily with a ST focus.
14. WR: Depth player to compete with others for a spot on the 53.
15. DB: Depth at CB, NB, or S depending on how other players are views for camp competition.

*iDL could end up being a tier one option if they decide to target the future starter in Clark's spot.

My watered down version. IMO they need between the draft and FA.
3- DL- An inside run stopper, an inside push the pocket disruptor, an outside rusher.
2- CB - An immediate starter and a depth guy who could compete for starter time.
2- OL - A LT & a Center.
2- WR- A deep threat plus a guy who gets open and can catch the damn ball.
1- LB-A guy who also has teams upside.
10 total. 4 FAs and 6 picks. I do not expect to hit on the 7th rounders, except for me personally in the Amish contest. Using your table that leaves 8 spots for current guys, UDFAs and a pick up or 2 that get cut from other teams.

I actually like the MVS take. He will take watching. I think he is a bit better now. But that he can get deep is what is important. I just don't think he would cost much. Then we can look for a pass rusher.

I think MVS is a player you sign after the draft when you see how things shake out.

I don’t want to see them absolutely spend on Dayo Odeyingbo at edge I would like Asante Samuel or another corner I think this FA class is weak and a lot of older players for needs… I’d say sign Adams if they don’t get Metcalf and sign Khalil Mack and split time with LVN. I’m indifferent this year with all the talk of them being Spenders.. I’d like to see them make splashy moves next year with the class being a lot stronger. Sign a couple tier 2 guys have a good draft and see how well they do and go all in next year. That’s just me tho.

Lucas Patrick reunion makes a lot of sense for that iOL swing guy

Hopefully they like Monk enough there. But if they want a FA, I was thinking of going younger. Like Robert Hainsey. I think he’s got about 5 years on Patrick.

Oh I was thinking a low tier cheaper depth filler. Hainsey’s youth will cost us more but yea, I am a Hainsey fan.
