Injuries are unpredictable. Nelson blew his knee in a non-contact drill. Your point on that score is not valid.Yes, we would be much better off with your man crush Reggie Ragland. Oh wait,
he blew out his knee on a non-contact play in practice chasing down an ancient
Reggie Bush.
Clark has showed some flash in practice, but I'm guessing you haven't attended
any this year. I could post some positive training camp reports from the
more knowledgeable Packer beat writers, but I'm sure you will just dismiss
them. His back injury isn't considered serious and how about we actually
let the 20-year old rookie play in a few regular season games before we
write him off.
I posted some clips of Clark getting beat badly in practice...pushed 5 yards downfield; getting knocked on his butt. We have not seen much different in preseason. In the regular season the competition only gets tougher. The progression of difficulty goes from practice to preseason to regular season.
"More knowledgeable" beat writers? Perhaps, perhaps not. Maybe they're the one's with a man crush. Or perhaps it would be unseemly to criticize a first round pick, especially if the coaches are saying good things which they are inclined to do with a first round pick.
Have I written him off in my posts? No, I did not. I said he's looked like a UDFA and he'd best get it in gear. That said, I don't believe he's a fit for NT. NT is not rocket science. Job #1 is hold your ground. He's not shown he can do that. Perhaps at DE he'd look better.
I was tempted to say if he's had the back issue from early in training camp I'd be more lenient. But I don't see any evidence of that.
