Countless number of fans every year bemoan a pick of the past or present like the GM has to be absolutely clueless...yet many of these are made AFTER things are learned OR years have past...

The thought process here is post your Top50 right now...post it that way you can back up your disdain for Gute's first pick with merit.

My goal is to have my Top 50 locked in by a week from now...but easily before the draft.

I like this but I probably won't settle on a top 50 until the week of the draft. Question. We are doing this as our top 50 overall. Or our top 50 for the Pack, taking their perceived needs into consideration?

That's a solid question...I'd say personal BUT would understand if someone wanted to post a more GB predictive one - just state such.

I've finally settled on a Top 100 which I'm likely 90-95% sure won't change. May be some sliding yet as I watch more, few more pro day testing results to occur as well....but this is where I'm at:

Just to clarify, these are the top 100 players based on your evaluations and not necessarily how they will get drafted. Correct? For example, Tennessee will almost certainly take QB Cam Ward at #1, even though Abdul Carter is a better player.

Over 100 picks, this should average out. That is, a majority of these guys will be taken in the top 100, just not necessarily in this order.

It's an interesting exercise, but Im more interested in draft order predictions.

FWIW, I don't have a top 100, or a top 50, because I just don't know enough about these guys.

FWIW part 2 - I'm surprised you have Barron in the top 5. I've seen him mocked all over round 1, early round 2. Again, I'm not qualified to say that sounds right or wrong. This list is useful when evaluating the value of a pick.

This is my rankings of the prospects plain and simple.

QBs almost always as example get over drafted compared to my board and many folks actually in the scouting world or even the likes of McShay or Mayock, DJ or others.

Predictive rankings to me are kinda of dumb in the sense if you're going to do anything predicting where a guy is drafted numerically you really need to factor in the team at that pick and review player types of those teams, need and weight also expiring contracts or contract situations for that team inside that position group.

You had asked about Shavon - just because I have him at 39, wouldn't mean he is a dumb pick at #23...especially if your top 3 CBs (if your board was same as mine) are gone already and you perhaps see a rather big drop off at the position - the value of Shavon would easily fit. If I get verifiable medical intel on him he is likely going to be up in my top 30 but right now I'm gambling some with unknowns...Morrison is still recovering for sure and I worry about the timeline of his recovery hence why he dropped so much despite to me being if healthy CB3.

I'm probably looking at this the wrong way. Mock drafts are useful imo because they give the fans of a team some idea of who may be drafted (even though they are rarely accurate). And yeah, there's a lot to consider in making those predictions, and that's why, outside the top 5 or 20, they aren't very accurate.

I'm just trying to understand how this ranked list of 100 prospects is useful. It's not clear at all, other than to compare it to other people making their own lists? I just don't know how many people know enough about all the prospects to put together a useful list.

Im sure you put a lot of effort into this.

Any scouting department is going to develop their boards or rankings - this is merely mine and I decided to essentially use the forum as the best spot to share it for historical referencing then in the future. I don't know if I'll flesh out all my 287 prospects I've graded out into a refined 1-287 ranked but if I do I'll share it. I do for sure currently have guys ranked out to 122 and then after that it is more buckets of remaining round grade thoughts.

Well it's a lot of work so you must enjoy it. It will be fun to check back against this list. What still amazes me is the number of "can't miss" guys in the upper ranks, who miss, and then the guys who come from the third day of the draft who find their way to the HOF.

I don't know why some guys just flourish in the NFL. And then there are the guys who live up to their high draft spot.
