I know this isn't a popular position, but I really like Nixon and always have. I know he has a lot of weaknesses to his game, but damn... so many times, he seems to step up at just the right moment, when you're least expecting him.

I'm curious - how much oversight does LaFleur have on the defense? Because it seems like no matter which system of defense, no matter which philosophy, no matter who our defensive coordinator is....as soon as we get a decent lead we always turn ultra-conservative, ultra-soft on defense. Is this intentional, or...?

(Nice stand and sack there, but I still can't for the life of me understand why it seems like whenever we go up we suddenly tell our DBs to take a 15 yard cushion and just not give up anything behind or something)

He's definitely on to something, because how many years of this dung do we have to put up with? It's been like this for several years.

Working Jacobs more and more into the passing game can be a significant multiplier for the actual receiver group. If a defense learns the hard way that it needs to account for Jacobs every time he comes out of the backfield, they'll need to keep a safety closer to the line and make more space for the WRs and Kraft. More options for Lafleur and Love.

Like the mantra that obnoxious Rams fans used to chant at us 20 years ago - "who you gonna cover"?

We can maybe get away with that crap when we're 3 scores up on the Dolphins in the 4th quarter, but in the divisional round of the playoffs? That's the sloppiness that can end a sdeason early.
