Not adding to the OP yet, due to WalterFootball being unreliable in the past - but for what it is worth they have Treylon Burks as a private invite of the 30 to us.

Always fun to see who the Packers visit with Pre-Draft. They get 30 private visits. Appears that they have only brought 2 guys in so far, WR Treylon Burks, Arkansas and Edge rusher Sam Williams, Ole Miss.

I really like Treylon and when you look at all 32 teams pre-draft contacts, he shows up on all 32 teams list of some kind of meeting with him.

The Packers list so far:
  • Treylon Burks, Wide Receiver, Arkansas (COM, PRI)
  • Tyler Linderbaum, Center, Iowa (COM)
  • Chris Olave, Wide Receiver, Ohio State (COM)
  • Malik Willis, Quarterback, Liberty (COM)
  • Sam Williams, Ole Miss. (COM, PRI)
Brought this post into this thread

Burks is now being confirmed by his camp and other sources I can trust. LOVE this kid too.
Burks is my favorite WR of the ones being projected in their #22 range. Although I admit I haven't looked at London yet.

I would love to know where the Packers have Burks on their board. They probably are still playing with that and thus the need for a visit. I watch a lot of college film around draft time and there was just a lot of things I like about him. Given that he plays on an average SEC team, but his opponents are SEC opponents, makes some of his film even more impressive. He had 179 yards and 2 TD's against.....Alabama. His QB at Arkansas, KJ Jefferson, could be a decent NFL prospect, but still needs work.

Jefferson isn't going to be an NFL caliber QB IMO - and if he makes it I'd say back up.

Burks is just a straight beast.

Agree. I just wanted to head off the discussion "but his QB is really good." Meh....if he was, he would be declaring for the draft.

I do think you have to look at the QB, the whole offense and the opponents though. While I really like N. Dakota State WR Christian Watson, it is fair to wonder how going from NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level and the Missouri Valley Football Conference, will translate to the NFL. He wouldn't be the first player to come from that division and excel in the NFL, nor would he be the last to not excel.

When you look at London notice how tightly he's covered, consistently. Makes spectacular catches but usually has about 3" of separation at most which will be even tighter on Sundays. :(

Just watched his 2021 highlights. Felt like I was watching Lazard. He can definitely catch and highpoint. Not much in the way of YAC, until the very end of the film against Notre Dame. Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year despite only playing in 8 games due to a season-ending ankle injury. He did put up some impressive numbers, his "worst" production was against Stanford and that was still 4 catches for 68 yds and a TD.

I'll watch more. The film I like is where they show every offensive play that a player is on the field for. Let's you know what that player is doing when he isn't being a human highlight reel.

That isn’t an official 30 visit which I’m attempting to track in the OP, I’m kinda shocked we’d be even eyeing Spiller as we aren’t in any kind of need at RB

Yeah, not sure what they are considering zoom meetings. As for talking to him, maybe they aren't sure where Kylin Hill will be come fall with his injury, or wanting to add to the RB room with possible heavier running game due to WR issue at current moment.

Each teams gets thirty in person on site visits with prospects, those are considered the limited 30.

Very well could be. May be going to a more run heavy split this year and there is a very good possibility that Jones won't be with us in 2023.

I fully expect one of our draft picks to be a RB.

The excellent thing I like is the diversity of options

Burks - is that Deebo Samuel type YAC beast WR
Pickens - is that WR1 outside guy that creates space in a multitude of ways not solely relying on one feature or part of his game
Tyquan Thornton - has the uncoachable item of crazy speed to blow backend of defenses apart
Velus Jones - is odd given he is an incredibly older prospect with 6 seasons in college...but is again a BURNER like Thornton but has the kicker of being an exceptional return man as well.

What is more amazing is I finally sat down and did a recent mock perhaps I'll draft up and share today - I've been focusing on polishing out my big boards and deep diving into Day 3 prospects...which folks Cole Kelley is a QB3 Day 3 prospect I have fallen in love with....look him up. Anyways in that mock I walked away with Burks at 22, Pickens at 40 (SEA trades up to pad rebuild there) and Tyquan at 140...I like all four of the guys we've brought in for very different reasons.

Stop teasing me!

Burks has really gained some steam, at least in what I have read. While I like Wilson, Williams and Olave I am pretty certain the first two would be a trade up to get and I am liking Burks more than Olave.

I would not be surprised to see Gute walk away from the draft with 3 WR's, the 3rd one being a return specialist. The only thing about doing that, it would tell me that either he is planning on cutting Cobb, carrying seven or not signing a starting caliber FA. Obviously, you have more than 6 WR's in camp and there is always injury possibilities. I just dont' see the Packers cutting Rodgers and Lazard, once he signs his tender, is a lock to make the team.

I think there is a 50/50 chance we triple dip, and that 3rd guy will be a specialist of sorts IMO - either like you said return experience or also a pure deep threat type...some are both (Velus).

Think we should trade up in the first to grab him? ;)

People would lose their minds if Gute drafted a QB in any round, short of the 7th. I watched some Kelley tape and read about him. Might be worth a flyer, if we can get a 6th round pick or if he is still there in the 7th. Only "problem", how do you protect him if he is good? Carry 3 on the roster or trade Love?

"In his final season at Southeastern, Kelley threw for 5,124 yards and 44 touchdowns in 13 games while averaging a 73.6 pass completion rate. Kelley also showed his dual-threat potential as a runner, adding 491 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns that year."

He throws a nice accurate long ball for sure.

I became familiar with Velus in doing mock drafts. I liked what I saw in the tape I watched. I think with any return specialist, it is a bonus if they can play one of the 22 positions at a decent level. Otherwise, you are taking up 2 spots on game day for a return guy and a backup at a position. That aslo goes for a rookie with good return skills, who may not be ready to start at WR, CB, S, RB, etc. but might develop into a good one.

Cole isn't going to have a ton of high demand, and if really worried about it I believe the new "protected PS" option is always there if you didn't want to carry three active guys. I prefer his upside over Benkert and I'm not a Benkert hater like some.

Benkert will be 27 when TC opens... Cole Kelley will be 25 before Halloween. Question is how much time do you devote to developing these "young QB's"? If Kelley makes it to round 7 I'd grab him and let him compete in TC.

FYI - AR has 10-1/8" hands, Love has 10-1/2" hands, Benkert's are 9-1/2", and Kelley has 9-7/8" if you think that matters to a cold-weather QB. ;)
