And after much wait and anticipation. The Packers have finally signed a healthy running back. The Squirrel was signed earlier this morning for a 3 year/ 5 million acorns.

Finally Ted is making the right moves

At least he knows where the endzone is.

The Packers signed rookie FB Joe Kerridge from their practice squad on Monday and released S Jermaine Whitehead.

Please tell me what the hell this move is all about? Why would they need another FB on the roster?

Whitehead was said to be responsible for the kickoff debacle against the colts. I'm assuming they brought Kerridge up to replace Whitehead on special teams

Dujuan Harris sure is looking good for the 49ers. I don't know a lot about Bell so I cant really say anything about him.

Harris is taking a page out of Ahman Green's playbook and wearing a Batman jersey under his jersey. Sure would be nice to have that kind of runner just about now......

DuJuan Harris was cut and re-signed a couple of times THIS year, so 31 other teams had a shot at him if they wanted. Always liked him as a Packer, just seemed there was never "room" for him on the roster. Hope he does well and sticks this time.

It's actually not that mind boggling to me. Who are they going to get? and why? we can all agree that lining it up with a more traditional set of TE's, WR's and RB never worked well for this offense. It's a part I think that is missing, but let's be serious. Outside of Lacy, who couldn't be counted on to finish a drive in a couple years now, or even give us 3 sets of downs in a row, our running game has mostly been a result of our passing game.

Our Offensive line still is not a good blocking unit. At this point, unless we spread them out and use the run out of a mostly passing offense, they are largely going to be wasted downs. It's going to take a quality starting caliber back at this point to run behind this line with any degree of success and that guy isn't available at this point.

DuJuan Harris was available for three weeks in October as well as seven days after Lacy got hurt in the Cowboys game. He looked great starting for a terrible Niners offense on Sunday and would have even been familiar with the Packers system.

I agree that the team's offensive line doesn't excel in run blocking but it's good enough for the Packers not needing an elite running back to have decent success.

Agreed, although, seeing the Chiefs resign Davis leads me to believe that there isn't much out there anymore.

I guess that Davis familiarity with the Chiefs system was the main reason for Kansas City to bring him back after placing Charles on injured reserve.

While I agree that it's probable Lacy would present the only option for a significant upgrade at the position Thompson not even trying doesn't cut it this time around.

Yeah what about gruden he is a Qb guy and has some serious anger issues on the field lol but honestly I think big mike would get canned before ted Thompson

Fortunately neither Ryan nor Gruden will ever get close to coaching the Packers.

Not that shocked to read this, I guess its business as usual.

They also worked out: Running backs James Wilder Jr. and Brandon Wegher, in addition to defensive back Brandon Dixon and defensive end Arthur Miley
I actually think it further shows the fallacy in the belief that good running backs are "a dime a dozen". Unfortunately, I think the good ones are all already taken. I also think it gives some insight into why Lacy was given as much slack as he's been given. He is/was certainly not perfect, but finding somebody that can do what he does when he is healthy and on the field is not as easy as many seem to believe.

Really unsure what the Packers are doing, but bringing 3 RB's in for a tryout leads me to believe they are at least looking for depth.

At this point, it wouldn't shock me to see the Packers ride out the rest of the season with who they have running the ball. Starks should be back soon and there is a chance Lacy will return as well. Now if Monty gets hurt, in Jackson and Starks we will have to trust.

Lol I wish I had some positive counterpoint to that.

It's for sure not easy to find a decent running back at this point of a season. Therefore Thompson should have been proactive and signed one to the active roster as soon as Crockett went down.

I imagine this is a special teams move.

I think if the offense moves to a spread and passing attack, Ty is going to be deadly out of the backfield. We won't line up and rush for 4-5 yards at a time, but then we weren't very good at doing that consistently anyway

I think the plan all along was to uttilize Cobb/Montgomery/Ripkowski as the third back and be able to keep 7 WR because of uncertainty regarding Nelson's injury recovery and confidence in that knee. Obviously didn't work out well when the first two backs got injured close to the same time.

There was no reason to keep seven wide receivers on the roster though as the coaching staff mostly used only three over the first few weeks of the season.

Unless he can learn the pass blocking scheme and immediately earn Aaron's trust, ain't no rookie back going to make an immediate impact.

Lacy had an immediate impact as a rookie with the Packers.
