That's what still has me bugged. He said he would never play for another team. He said if it came to that he would quit. He supposedly signed a lifetime contract with the Packers. So we put our emotional stock in him and he welched on the deal. Even when the Packers were doing poorly we could say, Brett will still be here. But he had a temper tantrum because he couldn't have his cake and eat it too. Then he left. I no longer care what he did for the team. It wasn't so much that he left to go to another team as other players have done. It was his "build up the fans hopes then crush them" drama that has forever tarnished the good things he did in my eyes. It was about telling us he would always be a Packer, then doing everything under the sun to become what; A VIKING???? That was really, really, really low. I don't believe for a minute he ever intended to go to the Jets and stay there. His destination was Minnesota and he saw the Jets as a legal "way-station" to get around the Packers' prohibitions. It was all about his unwillingness to submit to the leadership at Green Bay. It's the same reason he and Holmgren had such a rocky relationship. If they put his name on the ring around Lambeau with guys like Starr, I'll never be able to look at that historic ring again with the same admiration.
