I understand why people didn't like it, but it never really bothered me. Favre was trying to do a kindness to an opponent he respected. There are many such examples in sports, but this caused a stink because it was for a record. Mark Gastineau wasn't happy about it. Sounds like Favre didn't think it through all the way. It turned out badly, but I'm sure he meant well.

Just a feeling, I didn't feel in my gut that we were going to win the Super Bowl that year.

I have very vivid memories of Super Bowl 32 (unfortunately). I was actually taking the loss fairly well, but the people at work gave me so much **** over it. I thought the two teams were very evenly matched, and it looked that way in the game. The Broncos just came up a bit better. I didn't think we deserved to be favored by double digits, because like I said I thought the two teams looked very evenly matched. We were so heavily favored because we were the defending champs, and because the AFC hadn't won a Super Bowl in 13 years. I took comfort in the fact that at least it was a good game, we weren't blown out.

People thought our big defensive line would overwhelm Denver's smaller, cut blocking OL, but that didn't turn out to be the case.

The Seattle playoff game will always be #1 for me, because the way we lost that game was absolutely disgraceful. And I can't emphasize that enough.

Maybe the game isn't as competitive if TD doesn't miss the 2nd quarter because of the migraine. It still wouldn't have made it less painful for me though. It was the friggin Super Bowl and we were on the cusp of a dynasty. Holmgren got completely outcoached in that game.

The most obvious is the 1997 Super Bowl loss.

Close second is the 2014 Conference Championship. I think the 2014 loss hurts worse because it was a game the Packers should have won easily but loss because of poor coaching and terrible player choices. That was the game that should have told the front office to begin looking for a MM replacement, something they ended up doing 18 months too late, when they SHOULD have hired Kyle Shanahan at the end of the 2017 season.

I see what you're saying now, I was thinking of Packer games. You're saying we're #2 on the all time list.

I notice all these examples are from fairly recent/modern history. Did they have disgraceful losses like that in the old NFL?

Crushing losses and Kyle Shanahan run hand in hand.

Brett Favres first game against us. I was getting married in Las Vegas at the time, and while my wife went off to look around the casino, she let me watch the game. I had three Vikings fans sitting behind me in the bar who quickly worked out I was a Packer fan. They dug at me all through the game, nothing nasty, just taking the ****. I HATED Favre, and he nearly ruined my honeymoon.....Nearly.
I’m glad it didn’t ruin it for you Bill lol

Maybe top 5. It's certainly not #1. Nothing will top the NFCCG in Seattle. Losing the Super Bowl to Denver would probably be my #2. The 2007 NFCCG #3. I don't know if there are any more painful ones. Disappointing would probably be more accurate for games like the 1995 NFCCG and the 2009 Wild Card game against Arizona. Maybe the Rice fumbled game and 4th and 26 would qualify..

I said the other day in conversation I was dreading yesterdays game. I could only bear to watch the highlights. I guess I was right, although I shouldn`t have been surprised.

Thought I'd bump this thread. Where does yesterday rank?
I'm getting used to all the different ways we collapse and Rodgers' choking, so I can't say this game is too painful. Definitely really disappointing though, as Rodgers said it was the "last dance". (How arrogant of him as well to use that phrase, as he can't freaking hold Michael Jordan's jockstrap.)

First round bounce 2007 by the Giants, we were so heavily favored at HOME again against a 9-7 team and get your a** kicked at home, that’s when I truly believed teams do not fear coming to GB to play, they look forward to it, so they can show the Lambeau mystic is nothing but a myth, when you have a better plan, we were almost undefeated that year

I'm young, here are the top 5:

#1 2014 NFCCG @ SEA-I can't imagine anything ever topping this one, which wounds me to this day. Leading the entire game, the improbability of it, all the chaos down the stretch. Everything that could go wrong did, and we were SO CLOSE.

#2 2022 Divisional vs SF-Recency biased? Maybe. But after all the heartbreak of the last decade, last 2 years in particular, this felt like OUR YEAR for so many reasons. We should have been up 21-0 in the first half, and when we weren't I knew we were in trouble. This defense played out of its mind and Rodgers let them down yet again.

#3 2021 NFCCCG vs TB-Brady vs. Rodgers, at our place, this would finally be Rodgers's moment to get over the hump. Alas, he came up short yet again. I was resigned to losing after the Miller TD/Jones fumble/Brate TD (28-10), but to come back and have numerous opportunities to take the lead and come up short every single damn time made it worse.

#4 2008 NFCCG vs NYG-When the Giants beat Dallas, I thought it was a wrap. When Driver scored that 90 yard TD I thought it was a wrap. Like Rodgers, Favre came up short in the critical moments. Last night felt eerily similar to this game. Time (and 2010-11) has mitigated the pain and healed this wound at least somewhat.

#5 2012 NFC Divisional vs NYG-Goes without saying, 15-1 wagon that was the overwhelming favorite to repeat. We were not ready for this game, played BADLY, and were consequently stunned. Of course, immediately following a championship season mitigated the pain of this loss mightily.

Not sure where yesterday ranks. Not in the top 5.. not even sure if top 10 because it has become just so predictable.

Most painful loss was 2014 by far but this is 2nd. They hurt the most because they were both losses due to special teams and IMO a playoff team should never lose because special teams.

That is fundamental bull ****. They don’t have a huge playbook to work on. You have you FG team, your punt team, you coverage units, and return units and for the most part they’re supposed to do the same **** play in and play out. It shouldn’t be hard.

Both those game we lost because of pure incompetence by the coaches and players on special teams and it’s sickening.

Every year they lose in the first round of the playoffs. How did they get so good at not winning the big games

Not an a especially painful loss for me, it really didnt surprise me much at all that we lost with the history this team has had in the playoffs in the last 10 years and especially against the 49'ers
