Me too he ain't the same when he was San Fran destroying us yrs ago but he would make us better for sure! But if he leaves without a contract I'd say he doesn't sign at all

From what I have read Frackrell is really good on special teams. Maybe that isn't true but if it is he isn't going anywhere

What did Brooks do last year? If he has anything left in the tank it would be worth it to sign him to a one year deal. Elliot and Fackrell have shown enough to show they aren't the answer. TT needs to swallow some pride and do what's best for the team in 2017.

Time and time again I come here and am reminded why I'm happy fans have no say in how the team is run.

Cause yep. 2nd year players are finished products after all

Many here talked about adams being a bust a year ago and would have cut perry.

Brooks appeared in all 16 games last season and finishing the year with 53 tackles and six sacks, along with a forced fumble.

In comparison, 37 year old Peppers finished with 23 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

Brooks is 33 years old. Has ranged from 5 - 8.5 sacks/year since playing with the 49ers in 2009.

Sign him Ted.

There are a certain number of clowns who are going to call for the release of anyone who doesn't perform immediately and/or who they didn't personally want the Packers to draft. Part of the time, they are going to be correct that player X is a bust because some players don't pan out. Other times they will be wrong, but they'll make sure never to bring those guys back up again.

How many projects can you afford to keep on your roster hoping they may pan out some day? All the while the window is closing on the Packers Super Bowl hopes. If the Packers were rebuilding I would be all for keeping Fackrell around in case he improves. That's not the situation. The Packers need to show a big sense of urgency now! They have been looking to the future since their last Super Bowl and have been annual playoff disappointments. I say sign Brooks. He will likely produce 5-7 sacks and 40-50 tackles. Those are numbers that Elliot and Fackrell have shown no ability to attain.

Fackrell was fine as a rookie and the Packers haven't played a game yet this season. He looked pretty good last night. And why would signing Brooks and keeping Fackrell be mutually exclusive? They can quite obviously do both.

He's not a "project", he's a 2nd year player. They're almost ALL projects if you're applying the criteria that it takes time to get better. Rodgers was a project, Matthews was a project pretty much everyone on our offensive line was a project, Shields was a project, Collins was a project, Jordy was a project, Adams was a project. Daniels? they almost all are much better in years 3-4 than they are in year 1 or 2. That's the norm. I don't know which way Fackrell is going to fall in the end. But last night he looked just fine and like Dantes said, one doesn't mean we have to get rid of the other.

just wondering why Ian would say it's unexpected? Unexpected in that he had people looking at him? I happen to think a lot of teams would like him, or unexpected that he has a visit to GB? why is that unexpected? We were going into this year expecting a 4th rounder to give us snaps and an soon to be FA in Elliot and a 2nd year player. Elliot is still a special teamer, Fackrell has growing to do and our 4th rounder hasn't seen the practice field yet. Some help would be nice and welcomed, not unexpected?

I'd like to see if things can work out. Seems like a solid guy to give us solid snaps, which is what we need.

He probably said that because the Pack so rarely sign FA's.

The Packers lost both Peppers and Jones in Free Agency and in response they drafted Biegel who has yet to suit up for a game. I don't know how serious Perry or Elliot's injuries are, but unless the Packers think OLB's who didn't contribute last year can step up and contribute as much as Peppers and Jones less whatever we may get out of Biegel, I think signing someone like Brooks just makes sense from a depth and ability standpoint. Will it cost Fackrell a roster spot? I doubt it. Maybe someone like Gilbert doesn't make the team, but does Gilbert offer the Packers what someone like Brooks can, this year when they may need it?

Brooks' cap number last year was $8Mil, with a $4.9Mil base salary. He was due to count $8.5Mil towards SF's cap in '17. Any guesses what TT could/would offer him if TT wanted to shore-up OLB? Pulling number out I'd guess a 2 yr/$8Mil would be inline for a 3rd (non-starting) OLB. Any other guesses?

The Packers obviously have some interest in him, unless the reports of him visiting GB are false. Brooks may be hungry enough to play on a winning team in his final years that a lesser offer from the Packers might still bring him to Green Bay. One thing I did read that troubles me a bit, he has somewhat of a checkered past and is still awaiting trial on a 2015 misdemeanor ****** battery, which will take place at the end of September.

I would guess it would be less for a guy that gets cut in late August.
