I don't think Stills is the missing link to the Super Bowl by any means. However, he is an almost instant upgrade to a pathetically weak position on a Team with SB aspirations. He was playing behind some pretty decent talent in TX and would be coming into the opposite situation in GB. It most definitely would take time to learn the playbook and get in sync with Aaron Rodgers. IF things went well, I could easily see him becoming the Packers #2 WR by the playoffs.

My biggest concerns about him would be his current injury (quad) and what it would take to to lock him in for another year or two.

Still's career #'s

117 games
310 receptions
4,843 yards
15.6 ave.
37 TD's

But if a team release a player surely that is a negative ? Why would he fit in here better ? nieve question but curiosity on my part.

He was going to become a Free Agent and not getting much playing time due to being stuck behind a lot of talent.

Guessing from the sounds of it, he wasn't happy and was hoping to get somewhere that he could show his skills for a new contract. If nothing else, the kid is going to be highly motivated wherever he lands.

Thanks for explaining it to me mate. Now I get it.

could be some help. he'll cost them $2.4m of the 3.6 they have left if they get him off waivers. he might want to come over if he passes waivers for some nostalgic reason if the money's close. he doesn't know the O. then there's the time that'll pass for rodgers to "trust" him. just don't see it happening. tavon austin is a more realistic chance. he's a gadget guy like swerve. for punt returns alone they should get him.

Tavon would definitely be the cheaper option and if all they are looking to do is replace or backup Ervin, than definitely the smarter option. Much like Ervin, Tavon can do a lot of things.

Looks like the Packers are bringing him in for a workout. A good sign.

Shepherd needs to be replaced on this roster and we’ll be better for it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Kenny will play for whoever picks him up. But being picked up on waivers his contract is essentially guaranteed, so let's just say the new team that might not be a contender may not get their "money's worth". On the other hand sometimes players ball out to get signed by a contender the following year to a decent contract. It could go either way.

Honestly, this late in the year....only teams making a playoff push would be interested in him. Otherwise GMs/HCs would rather just continue to evaluate the talent they already have and address roster concerns in the Draft and Free Agency. If Kenny is playing for a loser, he's just a 5-week rental at best.

"Winning cures everything."

I also don't think he's a bad teammate but he went to the Playoffs for the first time in his career last year. Knowing that he's all but guaranteed postseason action coming to Green Bay, I'm sure he'll be a model citizen.
I see Stills as a bit piece this year and if I were GM and we got him, he’d be on a short leash. First sign of trouble, I’d have his kuester on the 5:15 out of Austin-Stroebel to Detroit.

Not sure I would spend $2.4M on a guy if I was concerned about his character. I honestly don't know much about the guy off the field. I have read that he is at the forefront of social activism and was even arrested this summer for taking a stand and seeking justice for Breonna Taylor. So that is a plus.

Also, there is talk that he wants to play for a winning team. That could be him just saying that he prefers not to resign with the Texans, especially given how deep they are at the position. Or he could be outspoken and have a negative attitude? Saw the following on Twitter and if true, I wouldn't view him as a "Andre Bad Moon Rison" type of signing.

I’m told the Texans had no issue with Kenny Stills, who was respected in the locker room. He just wasn’t playing and now gets a chance to join a team that will give him that chance. From Houston’s end, the move could open up an opportunity for rookie WR Isaiah Coulter.

I might like the look of this in Green and Gold

Stills hasn't actually put up impressive numbers with the Texans over the past two seasons. With it most likely taking a bit to get used to the system in Green Bay he would probably be relegated to being the #4 receiver behind Adams, Lazard and MVS.

It could work out but some skepticism should be allowed.

I don't think anyone is expecting him to just blow up. I just expect for him to push MVS for playing time. In 2021 I would like it so that MVS and EQSB are the #4 and #5 WRs respectively.

IF the Packers could sign Stills for 2021, I think you are looking at:
  1. Adams
  2. Stills
  3. Lazard/Funchess
  4. Funchess/Lazard
  5. MVS/EQ
  6. EQ/MVS
If they use a high draft pick on a rookie, than EQ and MVS would be fighting for the #6 spot.

Ah, forgot all about Funchess. Honestly having not seen him at all I'd rather Gute trade him during the Draft for an extra Day 3 pick, but that's just me.

I disagreed because I like his size and quickness. I wish he would be given more of a chance in the line-up. I don't see him scared or nervous like he was last year. But should not be returning KOs. Only punts. Maybe EQ could return a kick-off.

With all things considered, I don't know if I'd be all that thrilled about signing Stills.
I guess unless perhaps he could end up having the late season impact that Andre Rison had in 96.

He doesn’t seem to do anything with his “quickness” which I hesitate to call quick anymore. He just looks jerky? Twitchy? But quick guys seem to evade tacklers and he doesn’t out run, out quick, out anything when there’s defenders around.

And his decision making the past couple games seems to be getting worse.
