I heard Howard apparently had a workout and perhaps even an offer from Cincy, but ultimately they weren't able to come to an agreement so still a FA...

Perhaps worth noting though perhaps that he was subject to an investigation/lawsuit over the summer where he allegedly sent explicit photos/videos to the (underage) son of one of his ex's.... I don't know what resolution there was there (if any) but I do wonder if that hasn't scared some off (and rightly so, if true)

Lawsuit: Xavien Howard sent explicit content to ex's son
Oh wow. I didn’t realize that. I wouldn’t touch that sounds like he’s got a curse on him. That’s some pretty childish stuff mixed with some messed up stuff if that’s really valid.

He literally played like 3 snaps and was done smh. This marks two years in a row where he’s gotten hurt during the season. If I’m not mistaken I heard the mention of a groin…we all know groin injuries in Green Bay mean 3-4 weeks MINIMUM smh. I hope this Nixon guy can play because Jaire won’t be back until late October I’m anticipating.

The offense is going to have to get it together and stop relying on the defense to bail them out because eventually they will have an off day as well.
He is injury prone. And if he played elsewhere the same would occur. And non-contact injuries.

This is why a lot of corners don't play as physically as Alexander plays. I wouldn't have him any other way but when a 195 pound corner (corners don't go heavy on the pads relative to the front seven) is not afraid to take on blockers/tackle running backs, they risk getting injured.
His big one was in 2021 when he hit one of the Steelers in the backfield on a run play. He was out and finally made a cameo in the playoff against SF. Not a dude who is made for the physical type of game yet if he holds up he is pretty good at it.

He's a part time player and has been for years. Gutekunst needs to draft his eventual replacement.

There is mostly truth that once injury prone, always prone.

That said, injuries are often compounding if they force a player back too soon. If he was going in to “test” his injury that tells me all I need to know. He was likely 1-2 weeks away from being healed up.

Imagine the money teams would throw at players if players wrote in an injury clause which would lower their cap hit in a season. Now the issue is you’d start having teams play the cap game and manifest injuries at times with their big players for this which is why likely this exists.

Perhaps a player option to do it, many wouldn’t do it likely cuz we are talking millions but still…

Interesting concept. More up-front money but a built-in mechanism to reduce salary to vet min if IR'd for x amount of games...I like it.

Going to vet minimum would never pass the players agent at all.
Not to mention the fact that increasing the up front money would not solve the problem since it would just get prorated out anyway…. The dead money would still be an issue.
