Can't believe they're going to leave the week 17 Vikings Packers game at noon. My understanding is if you're going to flex a game you need to do it two weeks in advance. That would be this weekend. Anybody heard anything?

For Weeks 3-17, they have up to 12 days prior to the game to flex it. That gives them time to evaluate the results of the game 2 weekends prior to the possible flex game, and assess how impactful that game might be on the playoff races.

The rules are different for Week 18. For the final week, they can flex it as late as 6 days prior to the game. I'll be very surprised if that Vikings game isn't national; it could affect postseason seedings not only for the North, but several other NFC teams as well.

Didn't realize until now that is the only Sunday game where both teams will be over .500 after this weekend.

I read an article a few weeks ago where they couldn't move the game. For all home-and-home division rivalries, at least one of the two games must be televised by the network associated with the corresponding conference. 1st Packers - Vikings game was on CBS so this one must be on FOX.

That's only for Thursday night games, Weeks 13-17. The rest of them are a lot more complicated. According to NFL.com, the short version is Week 18 games can be flexed up to 6 days prior, like I said in my last post.

  For Sunday Night Football in Weeks 5-13 and for Monday Night Football in Weeks 12-17, the NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC, and ESPN) and announce no later than 12 days in advance of the game, which game will be played on Sunday night and which game will be played on Monday night.
• For Sunday Night Football in Weeks 14-17, the flexible scheduling decision will generally be made no later than 6 days prior to the game.
• For Thursday Night Football in Weeks 13-17, the flexible scheduling decision will be made no later than 28 days prior to the game.
• Fans and ticket holders must be aware that NFL games in the Flex Scheduling Windows are subject to change generally at least 12 days in advance (and at least 6 days in advance for Sundays in Weeks 14-17) and should plan accordingly.

Damn. That'd be bad news. I've been counting on that ever since the schedule was released, seeing as how I live in Kentucky.

This confused me into thinking it was the late afternoon game. The game is still scheduled for a noon start.
