Dominique Franks - CB - Oklahoma
Couldn't find video or info about him, but he's mocked in some drafts as our 2nd round pick, so it's nice to know a little about him...
Dominique Franks Scouting Report - 2010 NFL Draft Prospect
Any cornerback who can survive the passing attack of the Big 12 deserves to at least be in the discussion as far as the NFL is concerned. And Dominique Franks has done more than just hold his own during his three years with Oklahoma. As a freshman he was mostly used on special teams, but Franks did earn a start during the Fiesta Bowl. That start propelled Franks into a starting role in 2008 and he did a superb job, earning a multitude of All-Big 12 accolades. On the year he recorded 44 tackles and picked off four passes. He even scored two touchdowns -- one on an interception and another on a fumble return. Franks was not as productive during his junior campaign, but that is mostly because the opposition recognized him as the strongest corner on the Sooners team and started to avoid him. Through 12 games during the regular season he still record 42 tackles and two interceptions.
Franks projects pretty well to the NFL and he could end up being a first or second round selection with a few good workouts. He has good enough size and plenty of speed to turn into a decent pass coverage corner at the next level.
1/19 Update: Franks eventually decided to enter the NFL with a year of eligibility remaining. His ability to return kicks makes him a little more attractive to NFL scouts, but Franks needs to have some good workouts if he hopes to end up in the first round. However, after finishing his junior season with 47 tackles and two interceptions, Franks could emerge as a hot cornerback in this class that is relatively weak in corners.
