I'm happy for Bakhtiari. Hope it works out well for him. Now the Jets just need to find 4 more guys that can play o-line decently.

Aaron Rodgers might be immunized against viruses, but that won’t stop him from wanting bacteria in the Jets locker room.

We are halfway through the season and I haven't heard a peep about any team kicking the tires on Bakhtiari. Is his career over? Is his knee just never going to be the same? I have to assume if he was ready and willing to play, some team would sign him.

Was the 11/15/20 deal of $92M that the Packers signed him and he roughly pocketed $69M (yup his jersey #) from before being release, enough to retire on?

The Packers got about 13 games from Bahk from that contract and 13 games that weren't played at the level Bahk played at pre-injury. Not a bad deal for Bahk, roughly $5.3M/game.

Bakhtiari hasn't played a game since week 1 of the 2023 season. Even if he wanted to play, there's no way he's in game shape. If a GM gave him a call, maybe he'd be ready in several weeks going through drills on a practice squad but that doesn't offer a team any short term help.

Bahk-who? I have zero animosity for him getting hurt - that’s the deal. But he’s gone - he was done long ago.

OT are in such a demand that if he isn't back by now I have to assume his body isn't cooperating. Chiefs seem like the perfect place for him right now.

The fact it’s been a season and a half since he’s played doesn’t bode well. It’s too bad he’s done as he became such a great LT.
I still believe had he played in the NFC Championship we beat Tampa Bay.

Likely a 80% chance he’s played his last game. Another sad way to end a career.

I can't remember where I read it but I thought I saw an article saying Jordan Love's fiancee was posting something about re-signing him? Probably tongue-in-cheek but who knows :p

But I'd concur with most here: I think his playing days are done. In the last ~1400 days (3 years, 10 months) he has played a total of 13 games, and hasn't played in any at all in ~430 days (1 year, 2 months). I'm pretty sure if he was interested in a comeback (and there was a team/teams interested in having him), it would've happened by now.

Yup, she posted; "I've seen enough, welcome back to the Packers", in response to Bahk's post on Instagram of him working out (below).

Sounds like the Packers aren't a team that he wants to play for, he would prefer the Chiefs. I can't say that I blame him, he wants a ring and what other team has a higher probability of giving him one than the Chiefs?

Bahk back in GB? Hard pass for me. Maybe it is all the money he got paid for very little play, yes I know he got injured practicing for the Packers. Maybe its not seeing him at least hanging out with the team during the time he couldn't play, but was still being paid millions. Maybe it's just time to move on and build a solid O-line with your young guys.

I wouldn't pass on him quite yet. When healthy he is one of the best pass protectors in the game even if he is a little long in the tooth. I don't know if KC would be interested in him or not presently. David would have to take a pay cut IF the Chiefs are looking for OL or if we would be interested.

Even teams like the Bears and Vikings are passing on him, and they are in desperate need of good tackles.

If the Packers were having all sorts of OL depth issues, I would take him (maybe) for the veteran minimum to be our deep backup.

The only way David comes back is on a deal where if he doesn’t play for any reason he can be cut with no financial implications. Game by game pay.

Until Bak plays most or all of a full season, it’s all just talk. He’ll need to play for basically free for 1 year prove his knee is sustainable imo.

With what the Packers paid Bahk in his final years of not suiting up, Bahk should pay the Packers $1M/game for the privilege of wearing the Green and Gold. :coffee:

It would be amazing for him to sign back next year for one year curtain call type deal, if healthy I guarantee he is still our best LT on roster

I hope he decides to hang the cleats up. He has the money to do it. Just needs to refocus, and if he really wants football in his life, get into coaching, or media.

It's funny how things often happen with athletes. My Son went from living and breathing football 24/7, to completely walking away when he ended up unable to play any longer because of two damaged knees. Even though he's a Badgers and Packers fan, he doesn't sit down and actually watch entire games, and quite honestly, he doesn't follow it too much. But, he does know the game pretty well, and when he talks about it with people, he knows what he's talking about.

Hasn't Bak been getting paid all along? I don't think there has really been much incentive for him to play.

If he wants to play, is healthy, and can pass a physical, I'd welcome him back happily. I would presume the only contract offers he would get, from anyone, not just the Packers is vet minimum + game day active bonus + playing time bonuses.

I would even be happy, again assuming he's healthy enough to do it, to sign him to that contract every week 13 until he hangs it up.

I don't think there has really been much incentive for him to play.
I'm sure the incentive is "wanting to play."

No, he isn't currently drawing any money from the Packers, he was cut on 3/11/24.

Not sure when Bahk received his last official paycheck from the Packers, but 2023 was the last time Bahk was drawing money from the Packers. However, the Packers 2024 cap hit reflects all the money that was paid to Bahk during that contract, but yet to be charged to the cap (dead cap money), which was ~ $18.145M.
