Yep.Zook can't be blamed for Crosby. While special teams are bad today, Crosby has cost them a chance to win the game. The Vikings cut their kicker when he missed three kicks against the Packers. My hunch with MM is that he will put loyalty over performance. MM will trip over himself spewing excuses for Crosby after the game. Maybe that's why this team never plays 4 quarters. They just don't fear being cut for poor performance.
You said it, it’s loyalty over performance, probably why A Jones isn’t on the field more...Zook can't be blamed for Crosby. Still CapersI was wondering who the new scapegoats would be now that both Capers & Thompson are gone.....:>)
Having Tramon out there returning punts
sums up the state of our return game for that unit. It's non existent. Not sure how we can't do better than an old corner.
As I've mentioned all offseason it was a mistake not adding an adequate replacement for Davis as a punt returner.
The return game has always been a position we don't seem to value much. Will Blackmon is probably the best returner we've had statistically in the last decade
Statiscally Trevor Davis is actuall the best punt returner the Packers have had in a long time. Unfortunately he made too many bad decisions fielding punts.

I wonder what would have happened if they had just given Favre the Super Bowl MVP that year, instead of getting fancy and giving it to a special teams guy? Without that MVP to drive his market value up, would he have been a cheaper re-signing? Would we have held on to him?Course all returners pale in comparison to the great Desmond Howard.

You're probably right. And it was strange how he dropped off. While having Superbowl MVP to his name probably did bump his price tag up, I'm betting he still would have been highly expensive to re-sign because even without it, he was still hands down the league's best return man at the time. Crazy how he fell off dramatically after that year though.
