Well. He’s our Kicker now so I thought I’d introduce a thread dedicated to him.

I’m really happy with this move. I noticed how his Kicks went on a near straight line. Even the reKick was like a rope without the slack.

I don’t know about you guys, but I feel much more at ease with this pickup

Now roll back the clock....at the moment we are just craving Mason Crosby all over again - a reliable kicker. We really don't know what McManus' range will be in the cold.

Now I was a Anders Carlson supporter up until the end of camp this year, so I'm on the side of moving on. However, it's humorous to me that we've basically come full circle.

Well we know he’s made a 61 yarder and several 56-58 yarders. I feel pretty comfortable he’s reliable inside < 47 in colder weather
(call it 80-90%)

Get inside Their 30 yard line.

I think we kinda lucked out with him. Imo he’s better than Crosby and I like Crosby. I wouldn’t say that about anyone we’ve had since Crosby either. Mason was the last closest thing we’ve had to McManus. I’d take McManus over 2022 Crosby. We lucked out imo. I had no idea he was even available.

The other added benefit is he’s got possibly 5+ years left. We didn’t have that with Mason

I'm not going to compare him to Crosby but I always thought McManus was closer to a top 10 kicker than a bottom 10 kicker. I would have been happy if they they had brought him in last season and not drafted Carlson assuming he was available (not sure of his FA status at the time) That is assuming they were absolutely set on moving on from Crosby.

I fully get that he was a really good kicker in Denver. My point is that McManus has not had to kick in sustained conditions like you get in Green Bay. Denver is rarely as cold and the winds are a lot more hospital at Mile High Stadium than Lambeau.

Over the course of the NFL season, in terms of month-by-month averages...Green Bay is approximately 6 degrees colder than Denver.

Denver is not as windy, but it is also only an inch or so behind Green Bay with regards to snowfall.

But in any case if we are limiting our options for kickers to only guys who have been proven in places as cold as Green Bay then...we're limited to just former Packers kickers :p

Maybe Bills, Bears, Patriots, and yeah, Broncos, if we're willing to broaden that weather-span a bit...

Denver snow melts immediately.

According to this weather article, Green Bay has the second-worse conditions only behind Buffalo. Denver is ranked 12th on the list, so not even in the top ten for bad weather.
