"lead the team in ST snaps." That alone does not say much. My thoughts are that our last multiple years of fiasco on ST was a direct result of bad coaching. I think we have a ST coach now. I am not worried at all about what we see there in preseason. Not to mention, the way I have seen Abernathy throw himself around out there; he looks like he is made for special teams. And maybe he can cover. I just thought Leavitt looked weak in coverage and unless he is an all-pro ST player; I can't justify keeping him for that.Leavitt was not brought in for defensive play, but special teams. Dude led his past team in ST snaps and I have no doubt he very well would come close here IF he made the 53.
So 42 locks plus 3 ST specialists somehow. The first night at 53 will not be the 53 the next night. I expect 2 RBs on the first night. The 3 cut will be brought back to PS the next day. None are that much more special than the other 2. I've been convinced Davis at TE will make it for ST play, especially without Leavitt. He shouldn't see the field as the #4 TE that often. I expect Leavitt to make the 53 then be IR'd the next day bringing back one of the bubble DB's. I'm not aware of Savages injury updates. Jean-Charles is a lock IMO. Winfree will also make the roster the first day. And I hope Summers has no place on this roster. So here we are heading into our final preseason game and this is what we have roster wise:

See, I think 7 WR in this season is a wise option. It’s a room full of question marks more so than any year I can remember.I see some online chatter about Kenny Stills wanting to play with Aaron Rodgers. I don't see it happening, unless the Packers want to carry 7 WR's. Otherwise, they would have to make a decision on cutting Amari, Cobb or Watkins and I don't see them cutting Cobb or Watkins at this point.
Could be, but I think Winfree and Toure make it to the PS no problem. I doubt they ever would want 7 active for a game, thus, they are sitting someone out every week anyway. If Watkins hadn't been signed or hadn't meshed with Rodgers, then I can see Stills. I just think the Packers have enough "new" receivers, that they don't need another one.See, I think 7 WR in this season is a wise option. So I’ve got Winfree well ahead of Toure. 32 teams passed on Toure at least 6+ times and many passed 7 times or more. I don’t believe Samori is a threat to go active on a competitors roster this season. It will be interesting to see how many of the "bubble" guys the Packers play tonight. A guy like Toure and Winfree are 2 that I assume they want on the PS, if they play them and they shine, that could catch the eyes of another team.

So for me anyways, that’s a minimal risk I can live with.
Winfree would have to be protected on PS or he has a 50/50 shot of getting poached by several teams in the event of injury sometime this season. He’s a legit WR6 or possibly WR5 on some teams. He’s probably better than Amari as a Receiver right now, however Amari is a primary option on ST, so he turns the tide there, barely.

You guys think more of Winfree than I do. 6th round pick by Denver in the 2019 draft and hasn't done much in the NFL. Every team has their share of Winfree's and Toure's. Given he's a rookie, I would prefer seeing what Toure can do.

I actually agree on Winfree as well I believe it is slightly more likely that if he isn't on our 53 another team will offer him an option unless protected. Which actually isn't a bad thing.
You can protect what 5 guys? One I'd suspect will always be our kicker, I could see us protecting Danny as our QB3....after that probably looking at a OLB and a S for depth...leaves a WR option possibly.
Stills has had 17 receptions in 23 games with the Texans and Saints over the past two seasons. I don't consider he would present an upgrade over any receiver currently having a chance to make the roster.
Teams are allowed to protect four players on their practice squad each week. You need to be aware that Winfree would have to clear waivers first for the Packers to be able to sign him to their practice squad though.
With Watkins & Cobb ahead of #7 (Winfree?) that #7 WR could very likely become the #5 WR well before the Bye Week. I'd rather not risk Chicago, Houston, NYG or Jax claiming Winfree where he'd quite possibly become their #4 or #5 WR on opening weekend. In Chicago the #4 WR on depth chart is EQ or N'Keal Harry... and their OC is former Packer WR/QB/Passing game coach Luke Getsy.I'm not worried about losing our 7th or 8th WR to another team. My guess would be that Winfree and Toure would both clear waivers and the Packers would then sign them to their practice squads.
I don't think any of that matters. Sure, there are scouts on other teams watching for players to be cut. Again, I don't think they're super high on Winfree or Toure. The Packers will keep one or the other for the 53. Losing either one isn't going to be a huge deal. If it was then they would be on the 53. We're not talking 3rd round picks here. There will be some surprise cuts that teams will be interested in before these to guys. My bet is no one claims which ever one gets cut and they will land on the Packers practice squad. Like I said, teams already have their own guys. I'm not sure they're drooling over the Packers cuts at WR.With Watkins & Cobb ahead of #7 (Winfree?) that #7 WR could very likely become the #5 WR well before the Bye Week. I didn't think he had much of a shot this year. Linebacker play was not up to snuff and ST's seemed iffy even. He seems to work hard, good kid, but sometimes it's not enough for NFL football. The Packers are cutting inside linebacker Ty Summers.
Winfree vs. Toure who is the best S.T.er? I'm guessing these few final cuts will be based on getting this special teams problems figured out.
Hey, we look like the 2011 GBP compared to that Bears WR room.Actually, it seems EQ is currently the #2 receiver on the Bears
