Jenkins, after his jury, is an average player until he proves otherwise. He's got serious work to do imo. His greatest asset now is his ability to play multiple positions and that isn't worth 24M a year imo.
Jenkins was one of the best guards in the league last year in pass protection. He's probably closer to average in the running game. With the emphasis in the passing game and protecting your 50 million dollar QB, I'll take Jenkins any day over most other alternatives at LG. We'll see how he does at center. Most likely, he'll excell at the passing game game and be OK in the running game.

Maybe a few people forget that Jenkins was the #1 Center prospect in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Packers just transitioned him to LG right away. Like Sanguine says above, he excels in the Passing game, always has, even in college. His last two seasons at Mississippi St, while starting at the Center position, he gave up only 1 sack over 762 pass blocking attempts. I have the upmost confidence in Big E being our new Center.

Makes me wonder.... was Myers so completely awful as a guard that we wouldn't have been better off having him play mediocre at guard while Jenkins held down the fort at center? Sincere question; honestly don't know the answer to that.

I think that Jenkins transitioned so well to Guard, they drafted Myers instead of moving Jenkins to Center.

Things are about to get interesting. IMO, Phase 2 of our Run Game is being enacted. I believe this is partly a result of Jacob’s lower “per carry” output. We invested in Jacobs and again in Lloyd and it was very purposeful. Year 1 was phase 1 imo. In Shannahan system it’s imperative to form hard stability in the Run. It’s the catalyst that makes the engine thrive.

In 2024 we suffered a little because Morgan went down earlier, Lloyd never got going and coupled with some earlier instability with Jordan Love? it advertised our relative inability to use our Passing game early in the 2024 season.

Btw. Guys look at the Seal blocks our TE’s do here. Tucker Kraft in particular just manhandles 238lb Alex Anzalone right out of the running lane. Ben Sims dictated his lane also. Just a great display of what a good 12 personnel run game can do given the right RB. This is Detroit here, so not some weaker run D opponent.

I could also see us going after 1 more OL or TE (Jackson Hawes, Georgia Tech) mid to later draft who excels in Run block.

Love the Wilson contract. We took a chance on Lloyd with big time questions about durability and ball security in College. So far, his early health signs display why he nearly slid out of Day2. If he gets some semblance of regularly contribution in 2025 I think he’ll produce near immediate and it will be noticeable.

As far as depth, I still feel that RB is still not totally out of the question until Marshawn durability concerns are rectified. I wouldn’t be shocked if Brian takes a RB in later Day 3 though even with the perceived strength of that room. A later 7th would go completely under radar and could be stashed on PS for contingency reasons. Often 1 RB misses time and it’s wise to be 4 deep.
