Just tell them to put the Philly playoff game on to show the OL woes. Packers needed to beef up the trenches. Not a '****' move, but I'm fine with it.

We for sure just got stronger and deeper....add Banks and we have 6 guys that have been starters when healthy (Morgan is the health note).

Ex-Packer Patrick Taylor got a one year extension from the 49ers - always liked that guy, wasn't worth keeping here but love seeing him have success.

Are the Packers going to do anything today?
With some of the numbers I'm seeing, I'm glad they're not. There are a lot of guys flying off the shelf today that I would have loved to see in Green Bay, but off the top of my head, I can't think of a single one I'd have wanted for the money it took to sign them - with the possible exception of Josh Sweat, although I'm not sure I'd have gone 4 years on that one.

I'm feeling a lot of sticker shock today! As much as I wanted Adams or Metcalf, I was really surprised at how much they cost.

Dantes, or anyone, do you know how old Reggie White was when he came to the Packers? I think he was in his mid 20s, like 26, maybe 27. Or Woodsen? Both guys played most of their careers in GB.
Oh, no, Reggie was 32 when God told him to come to Green Bay. And he played more seasons with the Eagles than he did here; I think it was like 8 seasons there and 6 here.

Woodson was 30, and I think he played 11 seasons for the Oaklands and 6 or 7 here... remember, he went back to the Raiders for his last 2 or 3 seasons.

It really is, but much of the fan base is going to hate it because it is OL.
I wouldn't say I hate it, because I have a lot of faith and trust in Gutekunst. I sometimes get a hunch that maybe he knows a few more things about how to do his job than I do.

I am pretty surprised though. It was not at all what I expected. Suddenly, it makes me curious about all the things it may mean. I think the price is reasonable, but it still seems like a lot of cap space to spend on depth when we have younger players on the roster who we expected to step up this year.

Is Morgan not as fully recovered as we assumed he would be? Is Monk not as ready to step in as we had hoped? What about Walker and Tom; what does it mean for them over the next year or two? As far as Myers goes, it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to read the writing on the wall for him.

What does this say about Gute's strategy for the rest of free agency, and his expectations for the draft? I'm surprised he spent his first big money signing a position that was not as urgent and immediate a need as CB, or even edge. I know we needed to reinforce the O line, but I would have listed that need at around #3.

I think he got good value (especially given how big so many of the other deals are), and maybe he, too, was prioritizing the defensive positions more highly, but just didn't see the asking price for those players as being as good of a bargain. Was Banks first on his list, or did he just settle for him because it was too good a deal?

At any rate, I think it strengthens the team, and I guess Myers will go down to Lambeau sometime today and clean out his locker.

Texans just traded Laremy Tunsil to the Commanders...
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN.co, the Commanders are sending a 2025 third-round pick, a 2025 seventh-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick to the Texans. The Texans are sending a 2025 fourth-round pick to the Commanders, with Tunsil.

Donte Jackson CB also signed with Chargers for 2 year $13M deal

Four years / $77 Million for Banks
I like the move. The Packers lost the playoff game against the Eagles because they had no depth at O line. Banks goes to LG, Jenkins to center which is an upgrade over Myers and Morgan battles it out with Ryhan at RG or Walker at LT. Whoever wins its another upgrade because there are now 6 good O linemen. This move is a double upgrade!

4yr $48M For CB Nate Hobbs
Hobbs is talented but primarily plays the slot. Where does that leave Bullard? If you assume Xavier and Williams are your safeties, is Bullard really an outside corner? We shall see. At the very least, Hobbs did play on the outside in his second season but his best has been in the slot. I like the fact that Hobbs is still young and not past his prime.

2022 he was primarily outside, but yes he is thankfully a primarily slot guy. I think Packers are letting Nixon hang himself outside like he is demanding and Hobbs shores up that inside ability but he is clearly able to go outside too IMO athletically (doesn't mean he will or really can).

Hobbs and Nixon were on the same team too some...and I think Hobbs could be want makes Nixon expendable ($2M savings this year if cut...more if after this year for next).
