I was for adding a superstar and even give up a high pick in trade. But i think we should stay away from the Cinci guy, too old. Crosby would have been good. I expect we spend a day 1 or 2 pick on a DE just because they are plentiful this year and Gary will need to be replaced at some point. Gute seems to like rotating in a bunch of players there.

I think our second biggest need is OL. We need more depth and I expect we don't resign Walker. Our OL thrives because of low turnover and players playing very well together. Have to have guys ready to take vacancies over who have a year or two learning. We will have a guy named Zabel, Conerly, Grant or Brown by the end of day 2 of the draft.
Just curious why you don't think the Packers re-sign Walker? Above average tackle, homegrown talent....he's not a great run blocker but he's a good pass blocker and that's what's important at LT.

Pointless discussion now but I don't think Adams adds much to this team, the receiving corps REALLY needs someone with deep speed to open things up. I'm also not as attached to first round picks with Gute as, historically, he hasn't been great in the first round; in six drafts I'd say he's found two great players? I'm not entirely convinced THIS is the year he's going to find his second All-Pro.
Agreed that Adams is not the way to go at WR. He's expensive, and doesn't provide the deep threat needed in Watson's absence. It might be better to address the needs at CB and Edge and find a speedy WR on day 2 of the draft. The FA market is very weak at WR, Metcalf is gone, and....... that's about it.

Maybe a guy like Darius Slayton can invigorate his career in GB. That's about all I see. Well Gluten can always put cap aside for signing his own FAs next year, like Tom.

Yeah I had the same question for Amish. Walker has been an incredible value pick for the team. I don't think it will take a whole lot to resign him. Along with Tom, those two guys need to stay, imo.

My offhand hopes for today/this week....

CB - One of Ward or Adebo preferred (I wouldn't be opposed to DJ Reed but likely wouldn't like contract)
Edge - One of Mack, Azeez, Dayo, Koonce on the edge.
NT - Would love Bobby Brown or just resign TJ Slaton
WR - Slayton is the only pre-draft WR I'm interested in..

Can wait till after draft...
iOL
- A veteran likely depth but could start if needed iOL like a Lucas Patrick..but like Dantes has said if somehow they could nab Hainsey that'd be awesome.
WR - MVS signing depending on draft.

He is lacking in the run game and we can improve there. I would still be interested in keeping him, but he may command more in free agency than we should spend. He may also very well improve his run blocking this year and we extend him, but we shouldn't rely on it.

Here is The value of the Packers way for OL. The 4 guys I listed can play most OL positions. So if Walker improves and we keep him, maybe we move the LG to OC and the guy off the bench to LG. Or if we lose Walker to FA, we have the player flexibility to shuffle things around. We are not forced into anything with any player and we can move the pieces around to get a great lineup out there.

Thanks Amish. I really don't know enough about OL play to say there is a huge difference between playing T, G, and/or C. The Packers have preferred this flexibility, and for the most part it's worked out.

Adebo is coming off a broken femur so he should be back at full speed. He's the only CB I like on the list. D.J. Reed is really small. He's the kind of CB the Packers avoid.

Getting a depth piece on the O line is a really big need. One that a rookie can rarely fill. Other than Slayton, I don't see anybody in free agency that can help the WR room. MVS drops too many passes. While He's fast, you still have to complete enough passes to make him a threat.

It looks like the 2025 offense is the one that finished the season in 2024 at Philly. Rookies rarely make a big splash on the Packers offense. Reed was the exception in some ways but the draft is mostly about depth on offense at this point. Wicks is going to gave to make a huge jump to become a reliable third down target. If he languishes like he did this past season, other teams are going to crowd the box and it could be really ugly on offense.

2025 is a tough year to improve the offense in a big way. Gute can still improve the defense, however, using free agency and the draft.

Eh by nearly all metrics GB were still one of the Top offenses in the league Top5 in many that matter. Continued growth is not something on a whim, but is something you traditionally see in players. I strongly suspect that the massive issue inside the entire WR room, except for Watson, of drops won't be an infection like it seemed to be again and that alone would cause a small bump.

This offense also dealt with a limited or gone TE2 and an unknown commodity in Lloyd being out...getting them both back for sure at minimum is a bump in the positive direction. Our offensive line returning 4 of our 5 main starters (and a guy in Morgan that started a game and split time when he was healthy at RG).

I agree this year is not the hot commodity year when it comes to offensive side of the ball for the top shelf type moves you can do to move the needle. BUT as we have often seen in the league it is not the only way to increase the level. Even if we add a veteran depth iOL, an experienced TE3 and a WR all of being mid-tier level type guys would be an excellent thing for the offense as a whole.

It continues to crack me up how folks just don't understand the logic behind signing MVS IF the road led to that. Waiting till after the draft will allow you to know if you drafted a guy with the vertical threat but perhaps not as polished all around game (MVS blocks well for his role) and you have no need. However, IF we don't get Slayton or see Gute add one of my lessor desired guys like say Godwin or such....AND we don't draft a burner, MVS on a cheap one year deal for that role which we don't have being filled holds immense value. And for the depth of target MVS typically has, his catch percentage is barely low to most deep threats except for the absolute elites of history at it (DeSean Jackson as example).

Personally, would much prefer the Slayton signing and then getting a Jalen Royals or another burner (Thornton later or others) over MVS signing...but again a lot depends on what all can and does happen in both FA and also the draft.

Mack is going back to the Chargers on a one year deal worth 18M.

That's a really good deal for the team. He was making 19M AAV and somehow agreed to take less despite the big cap increase. He must like it there.

At CB, we have Valentine and Nixon. Valentine is good and Nixon i think may have maxed out. We need at least 2 new players here. The other young players here havent shown me much to be optimistic about. We cannot go into the season with what we have.
No question about it. We need 2. Rasul wouldn’t be out if the question. Although I’d like to steal a premier one away ala Byron Murphy

I agree. It’s probably a top 3 need for me. It obviously was for GB also, We did resign Telfort and I still think Monk is a quality player. We also have Morgan back in the fray. So there’s 8 without blinking. I’m a big proponent of stocking the shelves at OL so I wholeheartedly agree and I have been grabbing 1-2 OL in my mocks. A OT or OC if one is available or a OG on occasion. Sliding Jenkins to C

Yeah. I think I wrote that Davante proposal an hour before it was leaked he went to LA. Changes are happening quickly. I was proud to be pretty close on the $$ he got though. :) Often I’m way off.

Patriots signing Carlton Davis - 3 year $60M deal with 34.5M guaranteed. Rumor is structure is really a two year deal with INSANELY bloated 3rd year that will never happen.

It's crazy how far our WR has shifted from too many good targets to a need in 1 year. Only Reed lived up to expectations and Kraft exceeded.

I prefer MVS than Slayton and the contract he is likely to get.

I have to believe our WRs will look better this year and last year was a combo of sophmore slump and Love's injury. But adding a deep threat veteran is a good idea and could impact the season significantly.

I still to a point don't understand the hate the WR room is feeling, outside of the drops we are solid, if Watson wasn't hurt I'd strongly advocate anything before Day3 unless a steal would be dumb in the draft...and likewise I'd argue don't spend money in FA until second wave....Watson's injury, Doubs' concussions/mental issues coupled together is what brings me massive pause.

I still think Wicks is insane...his separation skills are other worldly for a guy to come in as a rookie and sophomore...he fixes drops he at minimum is a WR2 on bad years. Reed just doesn't have drops last year he's likely got another 100-150 yards and I'd bet a TD or two if memory serves.

Looks like the Packers are mostly sitting out free agency for starting caliber players. If Adebo is gone, I don't care for any of the other corners. Murphy makes some plays but he gives up too many completions IMO. I always saw him as a player the Packers could exploit at corner.

The inaction in free agency seens to confirm that both Tom and Walker are going to get paid. Gute is holding the cap space for in-house extentions this year and next. It also looks like he may throw some serious coin at Wyatt and Q Walker.

Seems like more disappointment/frustration than hate. I think people hoped there would be some significant jumps to at least 1 or 2 WRs, but didn't really seem to materialize. Combine that with the Watson injury and backed by Jacobs saying they need a WR1, just leaves people with a feeling that something else needs to be added to the room.

were wrong about 15 mins into legal tampering.

15 minutes to hammer out a deal. Impressive.

Because everyone knows that nothing is being done outside the legal tampering period, because that would be illegal and the NFL would frown on that. *wink wink*
