I would like to stay where we are in the first and 2nd. If one of the 3 receivers is there; I hope we take him. If not; there will be a good player for us. I'll say again that I hope we don't reach.
Agree. I actually would be just fine with Gute trading back to the end of round 1 or heck the beginning of Round 2. Still get a guy they wanted for their first pick and pick up another 3rd round pick in the process. I'm all about having more darts to throw at the board. Maybe the Giants like a QB that is still on the board and fear another QB needy team trades up to get him. I'd be fine with trading #23 for #34 and #65.

It is interesting, in Round 1, there aren't any teams scheduled to pick after the Packers that are probably looking at QB's. However, the Browns, Giants and Jets are possibly still eyeing Jalen Milroe or Jaxon Dart and hoping they are there in round 2. The Browns may feel comfortable at snagging their favorite QB still on the board, by sitting with the 1st pick in round 2 but either of those New York teams might pay quite a bit to leap frog over them and get their QB.

He definitely beat up on lesser teams. Not so much against good ones.
Yup and more importantly, he didn't consistent shine against better defenders, which is what he will see in the NFL. I think it was the Colorado game that he absolutely got shut down, as did Arizona. After the game I remember reading something about T-Mac quit on the team during the game.

Again, I hope the guy has a Pro Bowl career if the Packers draft him, I'm just not seeing what I want to see to invest a lot of draft stock into him.

I just don't see Gute trying to trade up and package their 1 and 2 to do it (let alone give up 1, 2 and 3). I know people always want them to be flashy and 'do something', but this doesn't seem like the draft to do that in.

If they do trade up for a WR then I have some odd suspicion that Doubs might be traded to help recover any capital they spent. And obviously they are still trying to peddle Alexander.

Good point about NYG and NYJ (less likely). I do not mean to be argumentative, but I am going to play Devil's advocate. Jets have needs on OL, TE, IMO they wait on a QB until day 3. Add to that the Pack would be falling all the way to #42. As you noted the Giants only need to leapfrog CLV. There are 9 other teams that they could work a deal out with and pay less. I am not saying all 9 would be willing to trade down but IMO a few would. Maybe CLV fears NYG moving ahead of them and they counter with a trade of their own. I like the trade down scenario and have been beating my brain for something logical. The Rams, BLT & BUF all seem to need secondary help. Leapfrogging MN, or even each other could be a scenario that works. Now the Packers themselves may want the CB that is there at 23.

I wouldn't want to see Gute give up too much in the 1st round to draft a WR. At most, they give up their 1st, 3rd and 6th in exchange for that 1st and a 5th, IF they really love a certain WR.

T-Mac is considered by many to be the #1 WR prospect. Heck, he might not even be in the 1st round conversation if this was a stronger WR draft. I also wasn't a fan of him skipping the combine because "he was already locked in as a top pick". Dude, you aren't Marvin Harrison Jr.

I think Gute can still get a decent WR in round 2 or even 3. There are some really good DL and Edge players in this draft, 2 positions the Packers are probably looking at. Go get em Gute!

Tet is the only WR that made my first round grading...now I do have three in my top 32 (Egbuka at 20 and Higgins at 25). Burden is just outside at 33.

I can see why he gets a 1st round grade, I just wouldn't want to see Gute give up too much draft capital to move up to grab him. Would I be fine with Gute taking him at #23? Probably, but depends on who else was on the board.

I do think Gute will use 1 of his first 3 picks on a WR, simply because it is a big upcoming need. Given that it seems to take 1-3 years to develop one in Green Bay, I'd prefer investing in a guy with a ton of upside, but isn't there yet. Of course, you can say that about a lot of positions. Seems like CB either have it or they don't for the Packers, so if they see an instant NFL starter at CB in the 1st round, I'd like to see them go get him.

If GB has any plans of Jaire not being here, they must use IMO their first pick to likely get a guy with less questions than knowns...that class is very limited at the top...and that's coming from a guy that loves guys like Jason Marshal or Bilhal Kone and some others in the mid rounds...but they got a lot of questions as well.

Personally around pick 16 or so I'd be willing with Gute swinging for Tet or Egbuka...I see the value there, especially with Tet.

I agree that whatever the plans are with Jaire, that will influence what happens in the first few picks. If they are planning on keeping Jaire around, I think they use later round pick(s) to try address future needs. If Jaire isn't in the immediate plans, a CB might be Gute's first target.

I actually like Egbuka better than T-Mac. Ohio State is a WR making machine. Much like McLaurin and Jaxson N., Egbuka was teamed up and competing with NFL quality WR's, and he flourished. I think Egbuka is the better route runner and just all around, more ready for the NFL. At first I thought he might be too much like Jayden Reed, but I think the two would compliment each other. Both can play in or out of the slot, both can block and both can get anywhere on the field pretty fast. Opening day with Egbuka, Reed, Doubs and Kraft is kind of exciting.

I don't think Doubs is going anywhere unless the Packers have a free agent WR fall into their lap for a price they can't refuse. I think the only real offensive emphasis will be on the offensive line, and that will probably not be addressed until about the 4th round. I think the first three rounds are going to be addressing the needs we have for a CB, someone who can be made ready to take the job as the anchor in the middle of the D-line to replace Kenny Clark, and an inside linebacker who can excel in the 4-3 defense as a playmaker and field general. Those 3 positions will take priority. But that's just my opinion.

Like I said, I am pretty high on the guy, but I guess it just depends on the value proposition and how far he drops/how far we might have to move to get him.

The proposed trade with Indy gives me pause. Like I said before, I know it shakes out okay "value wise" but I would be hesitant to give up our 1/2 to move up to get him - especially when I assume that there is a decent chance one of the other top 3 WRs will be available, either at our original pick or without having to move up quite so high. Looking at Indy, something like our 1+3 for their 1+6 would be more palatable to me than 1+2 for 1+5, regardless of the number values... but who knows.

All that said though I think Tet should be a fairly safe bet. You never know for sure, but the guy has flat out produced for years now. I can't tell you another instance where a player has led the NCAA in yards for the past two years and is as questioned as he has been. His measurables are great, he is an excellent (~85th+ percentile) in contested catches, 81 PFF receiving grade in the red zone, he's relatively young for his experience, and has great body + hand control. I see as very similar to Drake London (better in some ways, worse in others) who of course went top 10 himself.

And I would also note that his QB Fifita was pretty terrible this year. They do have chemistry (went to HS together) but wasn't doing him any favors this season. I have seen many for example point to a weak supporting cast as a cause for Love's numbers-drop in college but I have seen very few mentioning poor QB play hampering McMillan. Food for thought I guess at least

See I’m similar. Even if JA stays. If we had an opportunity to get a true CB who was call it a good m, perimeter CB2? That in itself will help our Pass Rush. That phase is in need of help as seen in our 2024 campaign.
Plus as we’ve all expressed to regurgitation levels, lol
it’ll be easier to replace TJ using RD2-4 than in most years. Don’t get me wrong I liked TJ, but he wasn’t some game wrecker either. I believe by RD3 or maybe RD4 at latest, we can get a pretty good DT IF we go CB or Edge using #23. I think DT will present prospects across our plate that fall 1/2 to 1 full round of value. Such as a top 100 on our board at 124 etc. or a top 64 internal rank floating across the strike box of our 3rd Round plate

I think that there will be enough teams that have the same opinion of him as you. Given this WR stock in the draft and the value teams place on WR's, that probably takes him and Egbuka off the board, well before its affordable and logical, for the Packers to move up to draft one of them. I feel so strongly about that, I will probably remove Egbuka from my Amish Draft Contest.

Another reason a QB needy team wouldn't want to wait until the beginning of the 2nd round and would make the jump back up into the 1st is because they'd get that 5 year option.

Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?

Maybe @tynimiller or someone else addressed this, but does a solid pass rush help the secondary, more than a solid secondary helps the pass rush? I can see how the 2 are connected, but if I could only have one, I'm in the camp that I would much rather have a solid pass rush. If you have a rush that is constantly putting pressure on the QB, odds are you are going to get more sacks, defelctions, throw aways, interceptions, etc. Making your secondary appear to be much better than they really are.

Looking at it from the other side. If you have a stellar secondary, even with 2 shut down corners, there is only so much time that a CB, S or LB can cover a guy. If you don't keep consistent pressure on that QB, someone will get open.

I also like the fact that if you do have a solid front 4, you don't have to blitz as much. That gives you 7 in coverage. Give me a Pro Bowl front 4 over a Pro Bowl CB and S group, any day, I just think those 4 guys have more influence on a game.

Good point. That can be worth a ton of money to a team. Of course, in todays NFL, it seems like if a player on a rookie contract is really good, they will just threaten to sit out that 5th year if not paid more.

Half of his TDs (4) came opening day last year in a 61-39 win over New Mexico. That will definitely help those redzone stats. IMO he is good, but I have him 3rd behind Egbuka and Golden. Hopefully the guy on top of Gute's board is available at 23.

Given the concentrated "elite" talent level in the draft - the first 5 guys - it seems better to stand pat. I'm pretty sure that one of McMillan/Golden/Burden will there at #23. Trading up to #14 or #15 would cost the Packers their second round pick. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

And it looks like Jayden Higgins will be available in round 2. He looks just as good as the other three guys. They all bring something different. I'm starting to like Golden for his speed.

sure and obviously I’m not advocating we skip at DL. I want both. More about the order in alignment with this Draft and its strength areas.

Yep. I’ve seen a moderate amount of scenarios of Golden at our crosshairs at #23. That’s an area I think we should break the Day1 WR barrier and just given Jordan an early Christmas present. It’s not such a big expenditure that if he’s not great that you shed tears. I mean Watson cost us a 53,59 paired? That’s. more accurately at that 26-28 value. We just slight reached to nail a O weapon in a draft that broke some barriers at the position, which is fine. A 23 a 27 it’s all kinda splitting hairs. If the prospect fits what we need just do it.

Frankly I think Golden would be a very good pick at 23. Id be moderately excited and I think most Packers fans would love it.

My gut thinks Golden ends up in Jerry World, and Tet won't make it to us either. IMO, the odds are he goes before Golden, even if Golden goes to Dallas.

Me too. I have him as my top WR option. IMO he is the best all-around one. I have stated my issues with Tet. As for Golden his speed is not enough for me as Love does not complete enough long passes anyway IMO. You can get your field stretcher on Day 3 IMO.
