After watching the success of players coming out of the Badgers program who were marginalized going into the draft, and seeing their successes in the NFL, I'm going to label Hunter Wohler as a player who's going to outplay expectations and end up being a solid NFL player. That's why, if he's available in the mid rounds, the Packers choose to draft him.

Laugh as you want, I look around the league and see so many of them who make it and none of them have the measurables that Hunter has. In a lot of ways, he reminds me of Jim Leonhard, as far as his dedication to the game, and football smarts.

Too many of these athletes have slipped away when we could have had them, with what seems like disdain from the Packer organization. Let's give this one a shot. It could end up being a super good idea grabbing him.

1000% percent agree. While I have Hunter as being selected by the Packers in the 6th round in my Amish Draft, I wouldn't be sad if they took him in the 5th or maybe even in the 4th. I've seen him play a lot and the kid has a high football IQ, a nose for the ball, can play anywhere on the field and is hustling during every play. I like the Leonhard comparison, but to be honest, I think Wohler, barring any major injuries, is going to have an even better NFL career than Jimmy had.

Will he have as big of impact as say a TJ Watt had, another Badger that was grossly underrated IMO? No, but he will have a bigger impact than a lot of mid to late round picks. Besides the Leonhard comparison, I would say he is going to have the impact of ex Badgers like Baun, Van Ginkel and Chenal have had.

(Think both are off the board & Gute trades back to #33, GB fans leave night #1, disappointed).

I was thinking about this and wondered if it will play out the other way, simply because the Draft is being held in Green Bay. Now there are no guarantees of what Gute will do, but from a marketing standpoint, it would make a bigger splash with the home crowd if Gute sees a big name on the board at say 19, and he makes a trade to go get that player.

Basically, does the fact that the draft is being held in Green Bay, effect Gute's draft night decisions on Day 1 and 2?

Wohler got a 6th (+) grade from me. I love his athleticism and in truth his ability to cover RBs and TEs will be an asset but I really love how he attacks the run game. He tries to make it respond to him and not vice versa IMO

Very curious on how many of you plan on attending at least 1 day. Coming alone? General location you'll be coming from?

Personally, when I first heard the news, my initial reaction was I'm in for all 3 days. Coming probably alone from Arkansas. I want to volunteer work to the Packers for at least 1 day. I've already got my place to stay reserved about an hour and a half away.

What say you?
Live about mile away in Ashwaubenon. Giving my wife and her sister a ride to get as close to the stadium as I can without problems. Fan of the Packers but not crowds so I will return home after dropping them off

It's the draft in Green Bay thread. First post is will you attend. I answered that question. There is an actual draft post too.
