Yeah, I hope we don't give up 31 points. We're looking to improve the defense this year.

Well damn I feel dumb. No excuse.... I'll see myself out.

Well, his 1st collarbone break was vs the Bears. So there's that.
No big deal. I always worry about the Bears and Vikes, to a lesser degree the Lions because we always seem to be their Super Bowl, at least for the last 26 years or so. I enjoy you all posting so don’t let a misstep stop you. GPG!

can’t wait to see Pettine unleash this new D on the baby Bear cubs. lets get a win, but God willing..let’s get that W, get out healthy and primed for some serious redemption against MN next week.
We owe them a good Shellacking

This game concerns me. I feel it is a must-win and will tell alot about our season. The Bears had a good D last year-they put our #1 WR in the hospital-and they added Roquan Smith/Khalil Mack. This is the new reality.

We are not the hunters. We are the hunted. The NFC North is designed around us to try to stop Aaron Rodgers-more specifically be physical as **** and try to beat us up. I'm worried about Bulaga coming off of injury vs a player who has had his character slightly questioned in Mack. Mack is a stud and this would be a perfect way to stick it to people like Gruden by getting 5 sacks on the best QB in pro ball and wrecking the game for us. I do not feel we should be cocky/overly confident going into this game/this season since we not only didn't snag the big fish we needed but he's playing down the road against us twice.

I'm not as confident as many here in this game, mainly because this is a completely new look Bears, with a new head coach and a lot of new pieces. This means that trying to scout them is a lot tougher than in the past.

While I think we will win and Trubisky isn't quite ready to win games for Da Bears, I do think their defense is going to be much improved and could cause the Packer offense some fits as they come out a bit rusty.

This may be a lot closer of a game then most want it to be. Packers 24-21.

I've been wrestling back and forth with a score, and the more and more I think about it, the more that I think a score along these lines could very well happen. The Packers aren't known for firing on all cylinders in the 1st week of the season offensively.

I don't think the Bears will score more than 20 or so. The question is, will the Packers offense be ready to score 3 or more TDs? I think with it being the first game of the season, at Lambeau, with Aaron Rodgers chomping at the bit to get back out there, we'll score enough to win the game.

I think Rodgers is about to go on a roaring tear this season. And week 1 in primetime for the entire world to witness, he'll send a loud and resounding message.

most teams have revamped and are willing to showcase what they have. however, the packs are already established under rod with some new receivers. that is an advantage point we have against teams that need to reestablish itself like da bears. if they are going to be good they need to have that chemistry of working together. will it happen in the first game, perhaps, but I think packs got this game against a potentially "new" bears. truthfully I don't think da bears will be a threat though. they may have a slightly better d but overall they will not be as viable as da vikings. which still shucks anyway!

Bears Country... UGH!!
So I think this is going to be uncomfortably close. Bears have the strength to get a rush home with 4 I think, Fangio with a strong front has always given Rodgers headaches, see San Fran.

I will say, now that the Bears have picked up Mack, that I'm sure liking that Marcedes Lewis pick more and more...

Still say packers gotta win at home against the bears, prime time, week 1.... Right? lol

Mans has never heard of Bakhtiari lol

But they have heard of Brian Bulaga ;)

Mack can come from all over, it would be nice if he only tried to get through Bahk, but he will find other easier paths sadly. :(

Yeah, if we're really going to beat out Minnesota for the division, and contend for the Super Bowl, we're going to need to beat Chicago at home. Otherwise, that's some weak sauce.

we not only didn't snag the big fish we needed but he's playing down the road against us twice.
We're going to be seeing Mack at least twice a year for the indefinite future, we might as well get used to it.

Bulaga actually did a fantastic job against Mack in 2015.

then we can only hope for a repeat :)

I posted this when the trade was announced, while I don't like having to face Mack, I think week 1, just after he was traded will be easier than facing him in week 15 when he will be more ingrained in the Bears defense as well as have knocked all the rust off. When was the last time the guy put on a helmet?

I think breaking the collar bone, then coming back and falling short of leading this team to the playoffs is more on his mind than the money he just signed for.

I dont know.... Maybe the fact that he broke his collarbone against them last year and might want to remind the rest of the league who its top dog is?

I was wondering if he meant something a bit more Bear specific since it is Bear week and all.

Look, I know you get a little testy if people talk down about the Bears, but you do remember how last season went, yes?

So I guess that means you are betting the farm on the Eagles winning it all again this year. After all I'm sure you remember how last season went, yes?

I get the impression Rodgers is about to unleash a storm upon the league. The shortfalls, the heartache endings, the injury last year all piling into a large chip on his shoulder waiting to be unloaded

Ima gonna go against my instincts of a tough game and say blowout. Rodgers goes off, defense makes some big plays.

Also, I think he’s amped up with the changes made on defense. He knows he will be supported more than in recent years on that side of the ball.

You would think so, but that remains to be seen, doesn't it?

I've heard some people theorize that it is more profitable to spend your resources on offense rather than defense now, since the league has become so based on offense. For example, the Eagles had the #4 defense last year, but gave up 500 yards to the Patriots. The current trend is teams with strong offensive lines win.

But I also have a feeling Rodgers is going to have a big day. Not sure why, since he tends to start slow, and the Bears have a pretty good defense. Just a feeling.

Bold Prediction, Offense: Two Packer tight ends catch TD passes.

Bold Prediction, Defense: Tramon Williams has a pick six.

I expect the Bears to try to put added pressure on Aaron with lots of 5 man rushes all day. The best way to counter that is an early game plan of quick passes to the TE's group and utilizing the RB's or slot receivers in the short passing game. One thing Favre was great at was slowing down the pass rush early with plenty of Donald Driver like slants. Let's take what they give us early and not get impatient. It will be important for our Offense to control the clock the first quarter and focus on moving the chains.
I'd also like to see some QB design roll outs where Aaron has the option of running out of bounds for 5+ or taking the safer sideline fishhook passes to guys like Geronimo

Mack should already be plenty tired from having to drag that big bag of money from the Bears front office. :coffee: Can't help but hope he was out doing a lot of celebrating this week, he and the whole Island of Guam can now retire.

I think what may have been missing is the fact that we will have a new look offense too. With 3 TE's with different strengths and Philbin coming back, we will have a slightly revamped offensive scheme that other teams haven't planned for. I think the D may have some growing pains, but start clicking as we head into the playoffs. I think we win this game 34-14

I'm thinking we'll see a lot of what you're describing this season.

My only concern is that Rodgers often times goes for the 'big' play and doesn't utilize what's in front of him. Hopefully with his new TE toys he will play differently.
