So far this is what I have read (updated Monday at 11:48):

RB Joel Bouagnon
CB Tony Brown
C Austin Davis
OLB Kendall Donnerson
S Marwin Evans
FB Joe Kerridge
DL Tyler Lancaster
DL James Looney
LB Greer Martini
OL Adam Pankey

ILB Ahmad Thomas wanted to sign onto the Packers PS, but the Packers opted not to sign him. He has since signed with the Colts.

Saints are signing former Packers LB Vince Biegel to the practice squad

What a fall from grace for Biegel. I really liked his measurables coming out of Wisconsin, apart from being a little undersized. Some of his metrics placed him in pretty good company as far as pass rush projection. But of course, probabities are not certainties. Too bad.

Yes, in hindsight Biegel was surrounded by a lot of talent on that Wisconsin Defense, as well very solid DC's during his time. As we all know, a player can look a lot better in that situation. I still thought he would be a good player, he has the brains and the motor, but for whatever reasons, couldn't translate that onto the field. His foot injury and subsequent surgery didn't help him either, but I guess the Packers just decided they had made a mistake, wasn't the first nor the last.

Certain players waived by teams and waiting for them to clear waivers and/or expected roster cuts coming yet (Kumerow, Boyle?) I think the Packers kept open slots now and then in the past.
That's what I was thinking before posting, just looking to draw some conspiracy theories.
Leave Kumerow out of the roster cut conversation please.

It’s possible that he just wasn’t the same player post foot injury. To be fair, it’s also entirely possible that he was and he just isn’t good enough.

I personally think his undoing was functional strength. He was strong enough to hold up to CFB offensive line, but not NFL. And he had a year to add some strength and just couldn’t.

He’s the type of player that has fooled me most often at pass rusher— those who have the athleticism and appear to be big enough but just don’t have and never achieve the functional strength for the pro level.

He had a motor, he could out quick on occasion or the spin move, but most often he just seemed to get swallowed and tossed aside by tackles . I expected more. He did not show well this preseason and he was going against far down on the depth chart guys.

We should have seen something was up. You don't play the entire 2nd half of the last preseason game if you are going to be on the roster.

Would've liked to see Thomas or Biegel in lieu of Lancaster

Usually but not always. Raven Greene didn't catch my eye until the second half. I think he was out there for all of the 4th. quarter.

I wish we could have kept Beigel and tried to turn him into a MLB. Size was his problem on the outside but inside he would be a big quick MLB. Just seems like it would have been worth keeping him instead of Crawford on the active or the PS since he was a4th round pick.
Also, since we just cut waters he seems like a good bet for a PS spot.

I count Daniels as a NT/DT

You can count him that way, but he's a 3T. Of course, a DC has the option of lining him up at NT or 1T or shade, and it's not like he's never done it, but it's not his game. If Clark went down and they had to ask Daniels to play all the snaps there, you'd be getting significantly worse at two spots instead of just one.

You need 30 or so players to play for the half so it wasn't a rigid declaration. FWIW Boyle and Trevor Davis played then too.

Isn't it a little presumptive to think that they could have just done this? How often do players really successfully change positions like that?

Crawford was kept because he showed real potential as a special teamer. I'm guessing they had Zook look through the tape and pick his guy, and it ended up being Crawford.

That sounded pretty rigid to me. Of course Boyle would play. Somebody has to get behind center. I think most folks had Davis on the cut list though I did not.

I had begun to accept it as seemingly inevitable due to the numbers game at WR, but I'm glad they've found a way to keep him. ST are typically undervalued by fans, but Davis is the best returner on the team and helps in coverage too. 6 of the top 10 teams in special teams DVOA made the playoffs in 2017 (Rams, Patriots, Chiefs, Panthers, Steelers, and Bills). 3 of the 4 not to make the play-offs had winning records (Ravens, Lions, and Cowboys all 9-7). Thus only one team, the Colts, finished in the top 10 (8th) and had a losing record (4-12).

The playoff correlation wasn't as strong in 2016, but only 2 of the top 10 teams in special teams DVOA that season had losing records. Strong play in that regard is a hedge against other shortcomings. I'm happy for the Packers to place more emphasis on it than the average fan might prefer.

Of course it’s presumptive but he seems to have the traits and at the bottom of the roster and PS that’s usually the type of projects you keep. He has a pretty good athletic profile but hasn’t shown anything with an outside rush. I understand Crawford for ST’s but wonder how much effort we gave to get Beigel on the PS. I assume not much because if we did he would probably be on our PS as he’s a Wisconsin kid who I assume is very comfortable in GB. At this point nitpicking bubble guys is silly but I think it was a little early to completely give up on Beigel.

Fair enough. I guess I'm just generally not one who projects position changes, as successful ones are so rare.

I was just surprised how small he looked out on the edge this year and how easily he was just swallowed up or tossed aside.

I'm not sure he has a future at OLB in this league after seeing that. Good motor guy, and a good football player but low level tackles were absolutely neutralizing him with relative ease it looked like.

He's not going to get bigger, not without help. Not enough anyway. I'm not sure if he could make a position switch, but PS and work on it for a year might be his best option to stay in the league.

I have a little Ted Thompson I’m me and really hate giving up on guys with talent even when they’ve shown us nothing. I would have made a Rollins a safety this summer and Beigel an ILB and said put up or shut up. I hate moving guys like Rollins to multiple positions. Just say you sucked at corner, here’s another position to focus on and if they can’t do it let them go.
