I don’t know where this league will be in the next few years, but it’s really hard to watch! With all the penalties, play stoppage, and bad challenges, I can hardly stand it! The more they try to fix the game the worse it has become. I’ll always be a Packer fan but my interest in the modern game isn’t what it used to be.

I don't know if I'm a "young" fan (32), but I totally agree.

I have said for years now-- cut the play book in half, eliminate all replay and review, and learn that life isn't perfectly fair (whether you have the review or not). Then play the game.

I think the NFL is getting to big to handle the problems that surface and are concern about the all mighty $$$$ only.
Now I see their talking about going to 17 seasonal games.

Also, I don't feel the NFL players are dedicated to the sport like they were years ago.

Besides watching the Packers, any college football team would be my choice.
It's so much faster and lots of razzle dazzle.

I'm with you TDF, 100%. The game is nothing near the game it was.

I heard a number of younger guys saying last night's game wasn't the usual TNF sleeper. The more they talked the faster I came to realize they were gamers and diehard FF guys .. and never played a down in their life.

This is who the NFL is catering to. Guys who use terms like No Fun League.

If you record the game on your VCR you have options. You can start watching a half hour after kickoff and fast foward through the game stoppages and commercials. Or you can watch real time and replay on your own, checking stuff away from the ball. I employ a mix of the two. I find myself rerunning certain plays multiple times to figure out what happened. If you did you'd see how frequently the run blocking is discombobulated. The VCR's slo-mo is also helpful in reviewing plays and adding slack for subsequent fast forwards.

Definitely skip the pre-game yada yada, and fast forward through the half time yada yada or take care of other business during the break.

If you employ these viewing habits you'll be surprised at the fast pace of NFL football. ;)

I'm out of market, though, with no Packer fans in my orbit, so I watch the games solo live or on Game Pass replay, so if you're watching the game with fellow fans you might have a problem. Most will hate you for using the above techniques. Choose your poison. Of course if you're actually at the game, there's no getting around the fact that the tempo is typically pretty miserable.

You got that right. Overall, that game was fairly tight and close all the way thru. The outcome wasn't decided until the end and I found myself wondering if they could just hurry this up a bit. I used to never miss a play, was aware of players in and out everything happening on the field. Maybe i'm just older, but by the end, I didn't really care. It's getting tough to be at a game. Felt that way at both the Vikings and Eagles game this year.

I’m now 54 years old and up until last year have watched every Super Bowl. Last year I decided F-it and took a trip to Egypt, I haven’t even seen a highlight and can’t even tell you the final score

I’d like to go back to no replay review. The league is going in the other direction. The PI replay has been a disaster.

Totally disagree with the suggestions to eliminate replays. The moment a key call in a big game goes for a toss every one of you would be up and jumping and calling for NFL and refrees heads.

I like the reviews. Just don't like ads during the reviews. There needs to be an analysis of the play live.

They are doing everything to make it more offense friendly and improve scoring. Think it can be tweaked more but it's a work in progress.

My only gripe is the length of games due to ads. It should be at least an hour short all inclusive.

It's fun how you're telling me what I would do. As though you know.

By the way, the NFL adds more rules and reviews every year and yet these moments continue to happen. Oftentimes, the rules themselves create the issue (e.g. the tie against Minnesota last year because the league decided that normal tackles can be flagged if they're of a QB).

It was a generic comment. If you are different, well and good.

I agree with lack of Targeted rules. The rules needs to be defined and refined better. But eliminating them (for reviews) is not something I'd say would make the game better.

More rules, less clarity by trying to write clarity into the game creating more confusion. No continuity among calls because they’re trying to create an impossible standard. They’ll never be done tweaking.

I don’t even watch replays anymore because it doesn’t ****ing matter. Someone will make a call and the game will go on. And people will still be arguing if it was the right call or not like they did 30 years ago.

"Them" is vague. Eliminating some would be an improvement, while others should be kept. Overall, there are far too many judgment calls being asked of the officials and reviews of judgment calls are often a farce.

I think next year what we need are reviews to determine whether or not to do an official review.

For instance:

Incomplete pass.

Challenge flag by a coach hoping there was DPI.

Commercial break for a review for whether or not to do a review.

Announcement that they're going to do a review.

Commercial break for the review.

Announcement that the play stands as called.

TV time out.

Or here's the real solution:

Fine tooth each game after they've been played, find all the penalties, project a winner based on the official penalty count, and then announce wins and losses.

Play on Sunday, find out if you won on Wednesday.

Perfect fairness!

Maybe Gamepass could offer a condensed version of games-- just the reviews. Give the people what they want.

This isn't so far out of reality and this is why the NFL games have soured on me.
I have gotten to the point that I only watch the Packers games now.
I don't have time to watch the other NFL BS.

Pass interference being reviewable definitely didn't make the game any better. I'm in favor of some reviews but judgement calls shouldn't be part of instant replay.

Fair point. Agree.

We all hate this, of course. However, without it, Goodell and the billionaires wouldn't get what they do, and the players wouldn't be getting nine-figure contracts.
