Message: <blockquote data-quote="Mondio" data-source="post: 833720" data-attributes="member: 10441">But getting rid of Hyde and Hayward were not seen as bad decisions at the time.  Everyone needs to keep context in mind when evaluating.  Hyde was a hybrid corner and what? 4th? 5th on the depth chart there?  I liked him, he's a football player.  he's the type of guy you put all over the field and just get good football plays.  But don't kid yourself, he was limited.  And Burnett had just been signed to a good extension, the investment was made and Ha Ha didn't punk out yet and was an ascending young cheap player coming off a pro bowl season.  You don't pay starter money to your 3rd Safety and 4th or 5th DB option.  you take your compensatory pick and move on.  And outside of starting out like a wildman with a bunch of INT's Hyde hasn't seem to make much noise beyond that fast start in the 2 seasons he's been gone.  If he wasn't a former packer would anyone know who he was?  he's no Chancellor, or ET, or Berry, Harrison Smith, Collins etc.  he had a great half of season his first year away and has been fairly "normal" since.  Maybe it changes, maybe it doesn't, but he was still the 3rd best on our team at the time at the position.  and THEN Ha Ha punked out and injuries caught up with Burnett.  and I was here when Hayward was not retained.  Nobody thought it was a mistake then.  Shields, Rollins and Randall had everyone excited for the future.  Then Rollins spent the next 2 seasons injured and not playing, Shields had his Packer career ended by concussions for a season and a half while on the roster and Randall turned into a talented headcase.  But nobody was complaining at the time when Hayward was let go either.  Why hold it against Ball now?</blockquote>
