1. Arizona Cardinals-Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconsin
Analysis: Thomas is one of the best offensive linemen to come into the draft in years and the Cardinals are in desperate need of offensive linemen. Edgerrin James has never rushed for more than 100 yards in a game for the Cardinals after a great stint in Indianapolis. I don't think it is the running back. Time for a new offensive line.
2. Oakland Raiders-Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
Analysis: Johnson is an incredibly talented wide receiver and the Raiders desperately need weapons. Randy Moss has struggled mightily so far in 2006 and Jerry Porter hasn't played a snap. Johnson could force opposing defenses to take the double coverage of Randy Moss and turn some attention to Johnson.
3. Tennessee Titans-Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson
Analysis: The Titans need another edge rusher along with with Kyle Vanden Bosch to take the pressure off of the defensive backs. Adams has had a good year for the Tigers and catapulted himself into the top five.
4. Houston Texans-Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
Analysis: The Texans try to make up for last year's draft blunder by passing on Reggie Bush. Dominick Davis is out for the year and is injury prone, so they take Peterson.
5. Detroit Lions-Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
Analysis: Ahman Green is a free agent at the end of the season and isn't healthy very often anyway. Adrian Peterson can make up for the loss of Green and then some. Peterson almost won the Heisman as a freshman and a after a "down" year as a sophomore is back and playing up to par this year. Great pickup by the Packers!
6. Miami Dolphins-Ted Ginn Jr.,WR, Ohio State
Analysis: The Dolphins desperately need another receiving target other than Chris Chambers and Randy McMichael. Ginn is a big play guy and the Dolphins could use another guy like that for Daunte Culpepper.
7.Cleveland Browns-Quentin Moses, DE, Georgia
Analysis: After cutting Courtney Brown, they need a defensive end who will put pressure on the opposing quarterbacks. The are in a difficult division and Moses needs to put pressure on the likes of Carson Palmer and Ben Roethlisberger.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
Analysis: Bruce Gradkowski playing decent in absence of the injured and when healthy ineffective Chris Simms. They need a new quarterback in Brian Brohm and Brohm is a good one.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers-Levi Brown, OT, Penn State
Analysis: The Steelers are trying to figure out why they are playing so poorly. They blame it on the ineffective play of Ben Roethlisberger, but they won't cut him, so they draft an offensive tackle to give Big Ben more time to throw the ball.
10. Green Bay Packers-Marshawn Lynch, RB, California
Analysis: Ahman Green and Noah Herron are free agents after this year and so they take Marshawn Lynch to give them some more youth for the youngest team in the NFL so he can grow with Aaron Rodgers.
11. San Francisco 49ers-Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
Analysis: The San Francisco 49ers need defense BADLY! The allowed 40+ points to the Chicago Bears. Whenever you allow over forty points in a game, you need defense. Hall is a tremedous athlete and will help in the pass defense for the Niners.
12. Buffalo Bills-Dwayne Jarrett, WR, Southern California
Analysis: The Bills have Lee Evans as a starting wide receiver..........and nothing else. Rice will jump right in and try to fill the shoes left by Eric Moulds. Jarrett and Evans are both young and talented and should be a great wide receiver tandem for a long time.
13. Washington Redskins-Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
Analysis: Shawn Springs is getting up there in age and they lack depth behind Springs and Carlos Rogers. Cason is a good pick for the Skins if they don't trade it away.
14. New York Jets-Kenny Irons, RB, Auburn
Analysis: The New York Jets have no true starting running back. They traded for Kevan Barlow, but he hasn't been the guy they've looked for. Irons is a powerful runner and with the drafting of D'Brickashaw Ferguson in 2006, he has a franchise offensive tackle to run behind.
15. Minnesota Vikings-Patrick Willis, MLB, Ole' Miss
Analysis: The Vikings still need help at the linebacker position. Chad Greenway will return next season, but they need some more talent at the position and Willis is the best linebacker in the draft.
16. St. Louis Rams-LaMarr Woodley, OLB, Michigan
Analysis: The Rams still need help on defense and the linebacker position even with the signing of former Panther Will Witherspoon. Woodley will help the Rams on defense and help them get back into the playoffs.
17. Philadelphia Eagles-LaRon Landry, S, Louisiana State
Analysis: Brian Dawkins is getting up there in age, so they draft the best safety to come out of the draft since Sean Taylor in LaRon Landry.
18. Dallas Cowboys-Drew Stanton, QB, Michigan State
Analysis: Jerry Jones likes quarterbacks named Drew. Bledsoe is getting older and Henson isn't any good. Although, the Cowboys may go with an offensive lineman here if they see Tony Romo as the quarterback of the future.
