Trying to space these out more, but 10 days is enough LOL: I call this the "Roll With Barnes/Martin" Draft Here's the thing...I value ILB much higher than GB as a whole has historically...and to be fair ILB has your insane next level guys and then a slurry tank forms of immense high caliber and low caliber guys hard to figure out as much as all of us try. So, I truly think Gute is confident rolling with Barnes/Martin and building around them not over them. With that in mind when #29 comes up and Bolton is sitting there to have we pass and answer the call from the middle of the draft pick heavy Cowboys that call. They offer up Pick #42 and #99 to slide up to #29. It's a heavy load getting us back into having 4 picks in the top 100. #42 Ifeatu Melifonwu 6'2'' 212lbs Cornerback, Syracuse #61 Josh Myers 6'5'' 312lbs iOL/Center, Ohio State #92 Alim McNeill 6'2'' 315lbs iDL, NC State #99 Kary Vincent Jr 5'10'' 189lbs Cornerback, LSU #134 Anthony Schwartz 6'0'' 179lbs WR, Auburn #142 Patrick Johnson 6'3'' 255lbs EDGE, Tulane #174 Garret Wallow 6'2'' 230lbs LB, TCU #178 Jermar Jefferson 5'9'' 215lbs RB, Oregon State #214 Josh Ball 6'8'' 350lbs OT, Marshall #221 Trevon Grimes 6'4'' 217lbs WR, Florida #250 Lamont Wade 5'9'' 190lbs S, Penn State Takeaway notes...while ignoring ILB when the likes of Bolton (Day 1) or Surratt/Cox types were present (Day 2) we do get a smaller framed attacker in Garret Wallow that the more I watch the more I absolutely love adding him to our LB room. Go watch him...you will like him more than I bet you thought you would. Melifonwu is slowly trying to change my thought process on where he ranks in the CBs of 2021 draft. I for certain thought he was a bottom of Round 2 graded guy MAYBE...to I just cannot argue I feel he might just be better than some others I originally pegged above him. The reactionary speed he has in that frame is special. At #99 many will argue is too soon for Vincent Jr...but to me he has the raw skills of a top 100 player - it is just unknown if he will ever learn to utilize it all and he is slightly undersized. However, we in three short rounds may have very well found our future outside CB opposite Jaire and now our slot replacement...oh and not too mention a guy that should enter day 1 as a serious contender to be our Center in Myers plus McNeill could shine in his support role to Clark. Rest of the draft includes an absolute slot burner in Schwartz that I'm intrigued just how much lower than 4.4 he runs - but here's the kicker, his hands are above average....imagine spreading a defense with him and MVS, both legit sub 4.4. guys!! Jermar Jefferson is that Day 3 RB that could see action out the gate given his strong hands and experience in the passing side of things...Trevon Grimes is a MASSIVE possession style WR to replace Taylor IMO with a higher upside possibly....Wade is a SHORT safety that plays big, it's like he wants every ball carrier to have to look up at him after the plays.
