A surprisingly hard list to come up with.

(its the offseason so I am trying to spark a little board activity)

Edgar Bennett had that catch down the sideline that was like 7 yds through the air, and left handed he grabbed that ball FULLY lateral, and held on to it. In my mind he should be in top 5.

Leaving off a HOFer? That's 1 list. Is that your order?

Where is your list? I assume you would replace Hornung with Hinkle? I guess I couldn't argue with that but I would stick with Hornung.

Jim Taylor
John Brockington
Ahman Green
Tomy Canadeo
Paul Hornung

That was easy!

My list as well but I'd replace Tomy Canadeo with his twin brother Tony:D

Interesting that in just 3 years Lacy might move into the top 10. I also wouldn't have though Gerry Ellis was that high. Probably the one RB most likely missed by fans if they had to list the top 10

any time one of these threads is started and someone posts their list with the 1st post it becomes a focal point of the thread. I usually wait to jump in when its got going.

1. Taylor
2. Green
3. Hinkle
4. Golden Boy
5. Canadeo

Eddie Lacy will have to be close to our all time leading rusher for me to put him top 5.
Lacy should be in the top 10 packer rushing leaders as far as yards go next season. Rodgers will be in the top 20.

Brickington only had three good to great seasons. He was fun to watch because he would try to run guys over but I think he is in the 5-10 range.

It is also interesting that Rodgers is #22, with 1,831 yds. in 7 seasons. At his current rate, he'd pass Bennett into the current 10 spot in about 6 years.

Sorry, didn't mean for it to sound like that. I figured you would get around to it.

Very good, Pitts was on my mind but I completely forgot about Lane.

Green Bay traded Donny Anderson to the St. Louis Cardinals for Lane, who teamed up with John Brockington to form the "elephant backfield". Lane wore #36 before it became a number for safeties like Leroy Butler and Nick Collins.

Come on!
The best thing about MacArthur Lane was the cool Dungard facemask he wore.

He only played three seasons for the Packers during the bleak years. To even mention him in the conversation about the top 5 backs over close to 100 years of the most storied franchise in NFL history makes me smile, chuckle, and throw up in my mouth a bit.

He played in the same backfield as John Brockington, during those same 'bleak years'. Should Brockington be excluded?

That's my favorite RB catch of all time as well, but the athleticism he displayed qualifies him more as a WR than a RB. I liked Edgar Bennett a lot as a RB, but his numbers just aren't there.

This would be my list...Lacy has the ability and the chance to be on it, just too young of a career yet for it.

If talking top 5 plays I truly believe this would have to be in the argument based solely on the challenging nature of the play...but it doesn't in my opinion constitute putting on a greatest list.
