Gross actually retired at the end of training camp last year, because apparently he felt his "desire" to compete and win wasn't fully there. But this season he feels as if it is back, and has convinced coach McCarthy, since MM said he believed Gross's story and felt that this guy really wanted to contribute to the Packers, thus allowing him back onto the roster and getting him in for mini-camps. Gross is a close friend of A-Rod. Gross was being scouted by Jeff Tedford, and that is when Tedford saw A-Rod and got him into his program.
