Dud: Pete Carroll. For his incessant whining. First off, he was shown *****ing while chawing his ***-o-gum after the penalty for having 12 men on the field. Now, maybe he was yacking about something else, but from the broadcast, it seemed as if he was arguing whether his 12 guys actually only added up to 11 somehow. Maybe West Coast math? IDK, but he came away from that episode not looking good. Then, his post game whine about the fumble recovery that was awarded to the Packers, even though his guy came away from that monster monkey-pile with the ball about five minutes after that play ended. Here is what he is quoted in saying:
"I don't know what the heck happened," Carroll said. "I'm going to say it out loud here about this fumble thing. When ... there's a big pileup, we're trying to get that football... Somewhere in there, the officials said that they declared that it was down, that they had the ball. Nobody pointed. Nobody told us that. So we kept battling, and we have the football. I don't really understand that very well.... we want to walk away from those piles with it, and we did. We just didn't get it..."
Huh? Did he actually say anything of substance in that rant? I don't think so. Then, the guy who came out of the pile with the ball (Justin Britt) was reported to have said this:
Britt said he wrestled the ball away from Elliott before the officials declared the Packers had possession.
Uh, ok. So, Britt is admitting that Elliot had the ball while on the ground. Hmmm... Then, he said this:
"I pulled the tip and pulled it away. I walked away with it. Explain to me how that's their ball."
It's probably in the rule book somewhere. Something about being on the ground with the ball. Anyhow, that's my dud.
