I never got to see John Henry in the flesh. I always wanted to. I remember watching him run in the first Arlington Million on TV when he beat The Bart(?) in a photo finish to prove exactly who he was. The first horse to win $4 million in purses. A magnificent animal. I think hockey is tougher than softball to be honest. For most people, including myself, just staying upright on skates was an accomplishment. I just didn't have the ankle strength or place to play enough to get involved. Just played "shinny" a few times. I tried being a goalie but wasn't very good at it. I'd say biking had a lot to do with your longevity in sports. It's a perfect way to develop strength and stamina at the same time, as long as you press yourself, and you did with that kind of mileage every week. I agree. We have to move on with our lives and find other sports/activities that we enjoy. I'd imagine, your being in Kentucky, you've found fishing is a darned good pastime. I always enjoyed it. The peaceful time of a lake, and even when the fish weren't biting, it was still a time when nothing in the world was bothering me. That's one of the things I miss most about Wisconsin. Those quiet times on a lake, with the sounds of frogs and loons punctuating the misty morning air making the sound of mosquitoes buzzing around me less of a bother.
