We open up a late lead, they give them half a field to work with.

Every other team returns lone from the goal line and they’re to the 25+ we’re lucky to get the 15

We can't overstate how bad they've been.

  1. Horrible punting
  2. Horrible kick returns
  3. Unbelievably poor decision making on punt returns.
  4. Poor kickoff coverage (seriously why isn't Crosby booting it through the endzone?

It’s unbelievable how the person receiving the kick is left by himself to get what he can. Absolutely no blocking scheme. Plus, it’s scary when the opposition chooses to return a kick. Last or next to last in all categories and nothing has been done about it. Pathetic

Any word on how Crosby is feeling? I assume he is fine given that he played well the rest of the game, but it would be a really dangerous time to have our kicker (and only good ST player) to go down.

Also, Tavon Austin has been a disappointment. Bad fumble against the Bears and completely blew the one punt today. I'd rather see Ervin back there, if there is any possibility he returns this year.

The Packers could activate Ervin from injured reserve at any point if he's healthy again. Unfortunately the special teams weren't that much better with him in the lineup either this season.

These dudes are ranked last in almost every category ‍♂️ They just cannot get this unit right to save their lives. They have to replace the current ST coach after the season. Even in his interviews he doesn’t really sound like he has a lie on what he’s doing.

Yup, we know that everyone and each unit is going to have some problems, but I'd really like to see a complete game without a major screwup by ST.

FG: Crosby is 16/16 in field goals; 93.7% in extra points (13th)

Punting: Scott's 45.5 yd average is 18th, and respectable given how good his hang time is. His average net yards, 37, is terrible, but has a lot to do with the coverage unit.

Long Snapping: Bradley has been noticeable at times as a long snapper, which is to say he isn't good enough. I've heard Huber say he isn't doing a good job in the team's opinion.

Kick/Punt Return: 18.9 yards per KR (31st); 4.8 yds per PR (31st)

Kick/Punt Coverage: 24.2 yards per KR (23rd); 17.1 yards per PR (32nd)
They do not have good personnel for returns. It would be great if they could acquire someone in the offseason to take on that motion role in the offense, as well as return kicks and punts.

Outside of kicking field goals, which is really almost entirely about one player, this entire unit is wretched in every way it's possible to be wretched. Personnel is part of it, especially in the return game where the Packers really don't have guys on the roster with KR/PR ability. But the coverage is absolutely inexcusable.

If it's me, I would fire Mennenga, sign/draft some return talent, and give Scott one more year with a (hopefully) better unit.
