If you’re talking about the horse collar tackle out of bounds on Kap, that was an extremely dirty play. I can’t remember if he got suspended or not, but he should have. And that was my thought watching it live. It was legitimately one of those moments where I was cursing at my television asking Matthews why he made such a stupid decision. That’s also not comparable to this situation anyways - Clay’s hit was illegal, no question. Barr’s hit was legal. It is the rule that needs to either change or be enforced more strictly. I don’t think Barr should be disciplined in any manner for the hit, because it would be ridiculous to punish a player for playing within the current rules. But he had plenty of time between the release of the ball and the point of contact. There are two possibilities - he was malicious in his intent, or his awareness is that bad that he didn’t realize the ball was gone two steps back. Just making a wild assumption that a player with that poor of awareness wouldn’t be on a starting roster, there’s no option left. He wanted to lay a hurting on Rodgers when the rules gave him the opportunity to. He probably wasn’t trying to cause serious or permanent damage. But to say his intent was anything other than hurting Rodgers is naive in my mind.
