Just saw an article in the NYT that talked about players wearing less pads. I had realized that b4 but didn't think about how it might affect individual players. King for instance. I know his latest injury was not a shoulder, but he has had problems with both shoulders. Would he be better off if the coaches or trainers made him wear some better padding? I realize that would put him in a competitive disadvantage. But it would probably be better to have a bit slower King than say a House because of a shoulder injury.
I have thought that it might be a good idea for the O linemen to wear knee braces. I can't see a reason not to and I wonder if it would cut down on knee problems.
So I am basically wondering if our coaches and trainers should to take a more proactive stance with players regarding equipment if for no other reason than to protect our investment.
Thoughts?
