First of all, I thought this was a reference to Dom Capers...not the salary cap! :D Frank - this is one of the best posts that you've ever done. I know that you called it the "optimistic" thread but IMO it's the realistic thread. You've got a pretty good handle on TT's style and you've laid out a good plan. Certainly there are more splashy ways of address the Packers' needs, but this is a good guess at our likely path. Compliments out of the way, I'm not sold on Ra'shede Hageman. I've seen the highlight tapes, but as always they don't really measure up with the actual output. To me he's a slimmer BJ Raji in the sense that he disappears all too often in games. I went to every Gopher home game this year and watch almost all of the games on TV. I'm not sure that he will be the impact player that we all want, but more like Worthy - who was more of a disruptive player in college than Hageman. I do really like the Griffen idea. The kid has played well and I'm sick of hearing Paul Allen (the worst announcer in pro/amateur sports) call his name. Allen says Griffen's name all of the time because he's been a solid contributor on that defense. He would add good value to our team. As for TT's drafting strategy, he's done pretty well in the 3rd and 4th rounds compared to his predecessors. He's averaging close to 10 picks per draft which to me indicates that he's a believer in quantity versus perceived quality in terms of player acquisition. One interesting stat about Thompson is that he's been horrible in the 5th round. He's struck out on every pick unless you count Andrew Quarless - a serviceable backup who flashes potential but has yet to figure out the game.
